I just finished up restoring this Sea Wolf, it's the second one I have done. I restored one last summer, too.

This one turned out better than the first. It was in a lot better shape than the first one, too.

This one had all the original things with it: manuals, instructions on upper and lower(back) doors, operator tag on the mirror, coin collection records from new until 1982 when it was pulled from that route, the step(a lot of SW's are missing the step), the coin box, and all the original keys and locks(at least they look that way).

I had a lot of ups and downs doing this, and I'm no expert at restorations and all that goes with it. But it should be a nice presentable piece that would look good in any gameroom.

Here's some before and after pics:

Pic #1: periscope handles before sandblast and paint

Pic #2: disassembled coin door before sandblast and paint

Pic #3: bottom (side) of game before sanding, filler and paint

Here's some pics of the finished product.....

I used triple thick on the plastic periscope pieces, something I didn't do on the first game I restored. Turned out pretty good.

I sandblasted the coin chutes and painted them brilliant silver, then triple thicked them for durability.

I used oil based black all around...the step, the bezel channel, the face of the game by the periscope.

Also triple thicked the marquee, turned out nice.

It still needs a Midway plate for the coin door....

no expert eh? ha! Nice job buddy, you did very well i think it looks awesome.

The periscope on this one had stripped metal screws(not sure how that happened) where it mounts to the upper body. You couldn't even swing the periscope from side to side, it was basically broken.

I drilled out the existing holes and used bolts, washers, and locknuts to secure it better than new. Its solid now.

I also made a new add-on rubber piece that I bolted to the existing periscope stopper to make it more like new. The old ones are a cheap rubber that wear over time, and also get sheared off from the edges of the upper (back) periscope body. Works nice, periscope bounces back when you slam it to one side or the other.

Installed new t-molding....oooohhhhhh aaaaahhhhhh

I used sticky tile on the step in place of the old rubber. Should be more durable and doesn't look half bad, either.

I cleaned all of the periscope ball bearings(36) in "Gunk" and then used automotive wheelbearing grease in the upper cap along with the bearings. Used super lube synthetic grease on the periscope boards. Periscope turns like butter.

Thanks Braido. But remember everything looks better in pictures than in person. Its very presentable, it'll do fine in a dimly lit arcade.

I hope the next one I do(if I can find another one) will turn out even better yet.

I'd do it in a heartbeat man, if I wasn't so damn busy. I'm honored that you would want me to restore your Sea Wolf. Maybe someday....

Hell I think the trip from my place to just the border of Canada is about 2 days...LOL

Mine is pretty bad it was left in a Carport for about 10 years so not in the open but snow would blow in and i am sure it had moisture all over it as the paint is cracking. other than that it looks pretty good considering. But the board have a lot of corrosion so will need to be replaced. Anyways i am also 2 days from the boarder but i am use to driving that distance for games mostly because there arn't many in Canada and 2nd it's such a damn big country!

Great job on a great game. I'm in the middle of fixing all the electronic issues with the one I bought recently. Got 'em all fixed except for the explosion and periscope lights. Once that is done I'll have to start thinking of what I want to do cosmetically, probably sometime over the winter, and this thread will certainly serve as inspiration. Nicely done.
