Hi gang, newbee here... actually a newbee with over 30 years of experience (and no money to show for it)...
,,,
Sorry for the long delay between your post and my reply, being a newbee - I just read it.

Did you ever get the parts you needed for your circa: 1982-1983 TAITO Game cabinet?
..
Question: Is this the series that is held together with metal strap brackets that go from side to side?
..
What parts are you/were you looking for?
This is a knock down cabinet and when you unbolt the brackets all the panels come off.
The front and top panels are nestled in groves in the side panels (may be painted/epoxied over by now). The base plate is 3/4" Plywood with a 1x2 underside frame.

I bought a bunch of old Alladin's Castle Arcade Games that were being stored in an old Macon, GA Flea Market back in the late 80's. They were TAITO Cabinets similar to yours.
I rebuilt them, made new Sheet Metal CPOs with a roll/slip press and even copied the design and made seven additional cabinets.

Over the years I have seen dozens of these cabinets where someone has installed wood blocks around the corners (on the inside). My guess is that they supposedly wanted to stiffen the cabinets. Simply loosening the carriage fastners and using epoxy finish would have stiffened the bolted locations. Taking the base off and applying wood glue to the corner joints, which were only bradded ( - you know - thin wire nails) together would have greatly increased the cabinet and eliminated the effects of age on the structural integrity.

Duram's water putty (also known as rock hard at a paint store) is the best cabinet repair I have found. It easily sands, and if mixed right can be shaped, or even poured into cabinet dings and holes. I use it to fill in old control panel button holes on wood control panels (using a piece of waxed paper and duct tape on the opposite end of the hole - ever try to pour into a hole without plugging the other end? hah).

Anyway, just wanted to know if you ever got your cabinet issues resolved.
