Another rare pcb, Hara Industries / NOVA Games of Canada Super Triv

Other then being in MAME, there is no info on this game. It uses the exact same two board stack as another rare HARA game called Treasure Hunt, but from what I have discovered, the pinout to coin up is different, and most likely other controls, and the dip switch settings are totally different.

I cant find the exact pinout to coin up the game, or the dip switch settings anywhere, but I can see the game attract mode nicely, and hear sound on startup.

Notice also that it says "NOVA GAMES OF CANADA COPYRIGHT 1985". Nowhere is this game mentioned under the NOVA Games list on KLOV or anywhere, and it does not say it was licensed to or by HARA INDUSTRIES either. Interesting indeed, and under MAME, it does not mention NOVA GAMES as the designers and owners.

Interesting how they got +5v and ground off the main pcb. I wonder why they didnt use the connector on the daughter board?

Should I convert this to Treasure Hunt, and keep the Super Triv on the side?

I just realized that the Cinematronics pcb/game Jack the Giant Killer is the same pcb, and both Jack the Giant Killer and Treasure Hunt are sam/similar games.

Did HARA Industries Co. Ltd. license this platform and game to Cinematronics, or did NOVA Games Canada?

That's pretty interesting considering the lore regarding Jack the Giant Killer pcbs...! Hara industries is even mentioned on the wikipedia JTGK webpage. They sold the blank pcbs to Cinematronics apparently. That's a cool story about that big 2 million dollar deal. Maybe Hara sold them the 5000 pcbs and then ripped off their game. Those bastards!

Incredible industry secrets and happenings back then in the golden age of arcades.

Now I wonder how NOVA GAMES CANADA got mixed up into all this. Like I said under NOVA GAMES KLOV, nowhere does it mention SUPER TRIV, or HARA INDUSTRIES.

Looks like NOVA bought a bunch of these HARA pcbs, and just created their own daughter board for it.

Reviving this old thread because I'm hoping the op still has the pics that no longer appear in the posts.
It's one of the only threads that I could find relating to my query https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=473955

You still have them @CossackWarrior ?

.

The pics appear fine on Tapatalk but here they are, I rotated a few for a better view.
