Just like Bill, I went the reproduction route with Quantum and have every reproduction Quantum part that has been sold. I am even picking up Dez's Amp boards for an amplifone install later.

I finished putting the side art from Darrin and Rich on tonight and thought I would see what new T-molding looks like since I had a roll that I purchased from Arcadshop a few years back.

Here are the pics, I know they aren't real clear but its the best I could do since it's night time and I don't have any supplimental lighting from the sun.

Never mind my mess, I didn't have time to put my logic analyzer away yet.

To me it looks like a nice new cabinet. Just need to get some tinted glass and a few small hardware pieces to comeplete this game.

Looks great! Curious - did you fold the sideart/vinyl over the cabinet edges or trim flush with the cabinet sides?

I wanted to try the fold over, but then I worried that it would cause the vinyl to separate around the edge once I snaped the T-molding in. So I flush cut it with a brand new xacto blade.

That's EXACTLY what happened the one time I have tried that. My first sideart project was on a Centipede. I also didn't prep the surface well enough, so there are some rough spots and plenty of bubbles where the art didn't adhere well. I did one side with it folded over (and then pressed into t-molding slot) and even after a lot of pressure with a j-roller, it bunched at the edges and looks bad.

Fortunately the art was on sale when I got it, so it could have been a more expensive lesson. Although I'm not real enthusiastic about redoing it, I got another set of Centipede art and plan to strip it, use Kilz primer and sand it smooth before re-applying.

I think cutting it flush is the way to go.

I have cut all of the full side art decals I have done flush. It does bubble up at the edge after t-mold is in. If the surface is prepped right, it wont peel back. I make as smooth as glass. I finish with 600 then wipe with alcohol. Squeegee and j roller. Just remember anything felt with your hand while running it accross the side will be seen through the decal. dirt, little bumps ect... The better the prep, the better the install.

Verrry nice. Our Repro Quantums are getting there....
