So, my new friend JesseJames posted today (http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=248539) that a Pacman was available in Anderson (like 5 or 10 minutes from me max) on CL for $50!
My parents have an authentic stand up PAC Man machine from the 80s. The insides are gone. After it quit working my dad refitted it with a tv and one of those plug-in PAC Man games from Target. The shell is in decent shape if anyone is looking to decorate a game room. It will be gone this week-one way or another. $50 Obo
I naturally stopped everything and grabbed the phone. It was still available, I set a time to visit, cancelled my plans to go to a family bbq, etc. Right before I leave, I call back to make sure we were still on. Turns out that the dad wanted $100 not $50. I'm like "Alright, I'll still check it out." I get there, he's selling the house and the new owner is there checking things out. He also had a Taito Space Invaders cocktail and he had just moved his DK Cocktail to one of his kid's house, they weren't for sale but I played a few games of SI (of course).
Turns out that this guy had bought the machine new (he told me this not really as a selling point, just as a fact, that it had been in his rec room the whole time). Now I didn't really care if it was a truly HUO machine but I will say it doesn't have some of the wear of a machine that was played alot (no handwidth paint wear, etc.) I did ask about the 12k count on the coin mech, he told me that they flicked the coin mech when they wanted credits. I tend to believe him, part of the packet of paper that came with it included the original receipt, an original manual, some newspaper clippings and a xerox of a letter he wrote complaining to a distributor he bought a few other machines from where references the Pacman as being in his rec room from '81.
In any case, there is some ugly, the basement it was in flooded a few inches of water about 10 years ago. So there is water damage on the bottom. The machine quit working after that and he mounted a standard 19" tv and one of those Jakks Pacman games. The original monitor and control panel are gone. On the positive side, the wiring harness is in great shape, the original power supply, the pcb are all there.
With the exception of the water damage, the cabinet itself is in good shape, the side art is nice (except for some tack holes, his mods weren't the best) the marquee and bezel are in great shape.
