Just purchased my first couple of machines, Crisis Zone and Gauntlet Dark Legends!
Been a dream of mine since I was a kid to have my own arcade. I have a good bit of experience with commercial electronics, but never even cracked open my own TV at home, having had incredibly good luck with personal electronics. (I still have a working 386SX laptop from gradeschool!) I purchased each of these machines with the intent of turning them into MAME boxes, but realized that I just don't have the heart to damage perfectly working machines, so now I'm scanning craigslist for broken down cabinets...
In any event, I've hit a point in my life where my kids are super interested in video games and electronics, so the timing is a good fit and I'm hoping to post on here and learn from the rest of you! I have a good sized place for my games, so I'm lucky in that respect. I'll be looking for solid deals in the midwest, so feel free to hit me up. My want list is pretty "classic" from pac-man to donkey kong, to millipede but I'm not adverse to unusual machines either. (The kids simply HAVE to have a terminator 2 for example...)
As the machines I have are in good working order, except for an occasional screen rolling on my Crisis Zone (it's the big cabinet version) my main focus for the time being will be on increasing my collection, and learning more about the boards and components.
