Why do people buy something on eBay, wait over a week to pay and then expect the item to be shipped within a few hours of payment?

This has probably happened to us about three or four times in the past couple of months, mostly overseas bidders.

The thing is we're usually very good about shipping within 24 hours on 95% of the stuff I stock. Sometimes I bench test certain boards known to be tempermental longer just in case.

I don't why stuff like this annoys me so much, but it does...

Not this is what happened, but maybe they had to put money in their paypal account. It takes 3-5 business days for money to post from my bank account to my paypal account. This could be almost a week if a weekend falls in there. I wouldn't be impatient though, and expect you to ship it out within a few hours if I made you wait that long for a payment :)

Yeah, some people don't pay unless they're prodded. It's pretty irritating, as I'm a same day or next day shipper. If I buy something on eBay I make sure I have the money, if there isn't any there- which there usually isn't, paypal takes it from my bank. I don't buy shit unless I can afford to pay for it when the auction ends.

Also, quite a few US bidders do this too. I stop shipping overseas years ago because of all the horror stories I've heard- it wasn't till recently I started shipping to Canada again.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind waiting a few days for payment, but this was over a week and what gets me is that they can take forever pay, but if I don't ship within a few hours of payment being received they want explanations on why their stuff hasn't shipped yet.

I guess I just don't trust paypal...I opened a bank account at a different bank to tie my paypal account to, and keep minimal money in both, unless I'm buying something ;)

I'm all in favor of a basic IQ test before you can buy/sell on ebay or be allowed to use the self checkout line at the grocery store. However, I'm afraid that is simply a pipe dream.

I once had a west coast buyer wait over a week to pay with zero communication along the way....and he finally sent the payment around 11 am EST on a Saturday. He proceeded to email me every 15 minutes over the course of the next few hours asking for the tracking information.

I emailed him back later that afternoon letting him know the package would go out on Monday. He was furious....and went on to explain that he checked the hours of my local post office and they closed at noon. This had given me ample time in his mind to mail out the package Saturday.

WTF? Junior was not very happy when I explained I had not spent the last 7 days refreshing my email account every minute of the day waiting his payment so I could sprint to the post office at a moments notice and mail out his package.

Again, a simple IQ test for eBay users would go a long way towards eliminating these types of issues.

In my auctions I have 2-days handling time noted. It usually gives me plenty of time to get to the post office. But people like that are just fucking morons. ^^^^^
