Just got a DE Simpson's. The game has full Mylar on the playfield. I previously had a TFTC that had Mylar just at the top between the bumpers, which I removed easily with freeze spray and goo-gone. The playfield under the mylar is beautiful, just wondering if anybody has removed it from that game or a similar DE game.

I assume the TFTC and Simpson's playfields were made the same way, thus the mylar should come off easily.

Mylar is mylar. Game is irrelevant ;)

This is actually a good question. TFTC should have had been clearcoated from the factory so removing the mylar would be really easy. They problem with the Simpson's playfield is that it wasn't clearcoated just mylared. Since that is the case you might have some paint come up when you freeze it off and peel it up. If you are going to do it just be really careful and go very slowly.

Thanks. That is the question I was trying to ask. Is the Simpson's playfield different then the TFTC playfield. If I do remove the mylar, then I assume I should clear coat it?

No you don't have to clearcoat it, it already has a lacquer clearcoat on it, just probably not an automotive clearcoat.
Use the freeze spray method as it will be safer than using a hairdryer for removing mylar.
Be very careful when removing mylar above the plastic lamp inserts.
