I have a Spy Hunter I am trying to get running. Here are the symptoms and what I have done so far.
Power without stack 5V
Power with stack 1.5-1.6v
Power with same stack in working machine 5v (so its likely not the stack itself)
I have swapped the LM305s and removed the battery as well as inspected for bad solder joints on the J4 and J5 connectors.
U1 reads 14.3v at pin3 and 12.2v at pin8
u2 reads 12.9v at pin3 and 1.5v at pin8
Virtually no AC ripple.
Pulled q102 and q105, both check good out of circuit.
Pulled q201, checked good out of circuit.
Per Dokerts advise I reflowed the pins at the power connector with no change in symptoms. I also put the power supply in a fully working cabinet with the same symptoms.
I have swapped U1 and U2, pulled Q103 (checked good out of circuit) pulled Q104 (checked good out of circuit) pulled and swapped Q102 and Q105 (checked good out of circuit)
So, i think its regulating since i get 5VDC before the board loads the power supply then it drops. I suppose of the the components that check good out of circuit could be weak but I dont know how to check them.
Added info, the 5v is adjustable when not connected to the stack, not adjustable when it is connected to the stack.
Next thing I should check anyone?
