J-pac help please

Using windows 7 home premium.
Have the Ultimarc J-Pac.
All has been working fine for a couple of days.

1- Unplugged the USB from the computer this evening.
2- Plugged it back in and noticed the finger pad on laptop wouldn't take my clicks and a windows device help window appeared that wouldn't close. UNTIL I unplugged the usb. then windows returned to normal for keyboard and finger board.
3- the little image of the device in the lower right corner of taskbar didn't show the icon for the jpac usb connection, as it did prior to the unplugging.
4- from control panel>hardware>devices> i can see the ultimar i-pac driver appear when the USB is plugged in. and it disappears when unplugged along with the little noise that indicates something is being autodetected. from this icon it says all drivers are functioning properly.

The board won't communicate between the computer and the cabinet controls though for the mame front end.

--I have tried rolling my computer back to prior to installing everything.
--I have updated all windows updates which is win7 sp1.
--I have tried uninstalling the i-pac driver from control panel>HW>devices and letting it reinstall when plugging in USB.

--I have reinstalled the WinIPAC, key programmer from the ultimarc CD

What is odd is that in the winipac key programmer i can see the keys light up for the corresponding control icons in the utility, if i use the cabinet controls so i know there is some form of communication happening.
--when i try the option to program the ipac/jpac from winipac, it says there was a failure communicating with board.

i tried plugging the board into a different laptop and see it properly creates the icon in the taskbar and the green led on the board lights up. so the board is fine and it must be a driver/registry/etc problem on this laptop that happened when i unplugged the usb while the computer was on.

have tried other usb ports on computer, same behavior.
in the taskbar i have it set to show icon and notification for windows devices being installed.

What am I missing here? I've been sitting here fighting this for about 4 hrs now, can't find any resources via google and i'm thoroughly frustrated.

anyone know what the F is wrong with this jpac computer USB driver business?
thank you.

Had to reinstall MAME and I could kindly use some help if you don't mind.
I can't find any answers on google.

I have windows 7 laptop.
I have 7zip installed.
have extracted mame0145s.exe from this site.
http://mamedev.org/release.html

and for some reason i can not figure out what file to click on to finish the extraction of all the files.

see the screenshot to see what got extracted from the mame0145s.exe which is incomplete.
i manually created the roms folder, and the other stuff is mgalaxy frontend that i downloaded later.
had this working a couple of days ago and now it seems impossible.

I circled the mame.exe zip file which gets extracted but when i double click it, it just contains the same files you see in the screenshot which is incomplete such as missing the roms folder and the actual mame application you can use to start the UI program.

What am I missing about how to install the basic MAME?

I'm a noob and could really use some help as i'm beyond frustrated after sitting here at this Fn computer for hours. thanks in advance.
MAME guys same mame is so easy....i strongly disagree at this point.....

Are you sure you're using a new version of MAME? It's supposed to have a mame.exe in there.

i posted the link where i got that. and it worked a few days ago.
can you post a link where you would go to get a version of mame.exe, if it is other than the site i posted, which is the top of the google search page.

The mames file is the source code only. You need the compiled version!

Sent from my HTC HD7 using Board Express

Yeah, you need 145b.exe. If you are running 64 bit Windows, you will want the 64 bit version.
The binaries are lower on the same page you found the source file.

ahhhh, binaries and compiled versions. more verbage to add to the bag of knowledge.
thank you.

now to figure out where to find a berzerk download that actually works.
