Different question, issue I just noticed. Seems like there are a couple of times while playing, the flippers will turn off as if a tilt or the slam switch was triggered. The tilt is disabled (no weight) and the slam switch is missing. This ONLY happens when the Crane is in the up position (crane is near the yellow wire ramp). nothing shows up on the dmd as a tilt or anything, so I am confused as to how to diagnose this. Problem seemed to have gotten worse since I fixed the shaker motor, so my gut feeling is switch adjustment, but I have no idea what rule would cause the game to go into a tilt type mode. Its not that it turns off or anything either, looking at the dmd you would think the ball was still in play. Once it drains, everything is fine for the next ball. Any ideas??

Well, figured I'd post back as I think I solved it. 2 Faulty ball trough switches. They seem to register when the soldering tabs are moved slightly, so the shaker would make it worse, and without the shaker, it would only happen with some bumping or the crane movement. Luckily i have a couple of extra switches, although i did replace all of these in my rebuild. I will replace them and make sure this is it...

Bump...I need some help brainstorming this problem. I still think it lies with the ball trough switches. Sometimes it doesn't register the balls drained. But when i go into diagnostics, the switches perform as they should. Intermittent diodes maybe? Is there some where else I should replace the diodes as well? Any ideas welcome, i'm at a loss. Thanks!

I have a royal rumble that had a random(phantom) tilt problem. Everything was fine in tests, I ended up replacing the switch matrix IC(taking a guess) and it fixed it.

When you had a problem like that did the tilt sequence show on the display, because I dont get a message, and it rewards a bonus as if the ball drained. I played like 50 games in the last 2 hrs (bad games), it probably happened once every 2 games. Only happens when the crane is moving too, so again, might be a vibration thing. I'd imagine there is an IC for the ball trouch switch matrix, maybe I should replace that?

Were you in a specific mode?? If I remember correctly one of the modes would kill the flippers or something I don't remember though.

unplug and replug everything would be my starting guess.

Ya know I didn't even think to keep track of the mode as i was playing. I just watched the playfield like a hawk to see what switches would be hit or if the crane was moving, which usually it was. I will check the rules on the game to see if any mode has that.

I'm pretty sure it's a MB mode or something that will kill the flippers when time is over, but I think it's supposed to shoot a ball back into play or something...

I could be completely wrong, but don't remember..

Yeah, no way do i make it that far, also watching that video, "balls draining" appears on the display when this happens, mine just acts like the ball drained regularly. I still feel like it has to do with the switches in the ball trough or the matrix controlling it. Periodically it wont recognize when a ball drains. Also, usually you launch a new ball with the trigger or if you hit both flipper buttons, sometimes DURING gameplay, hitting both flipper buttons will trigger the ball launch coil (not the coil to bring the ball from the trough to the chute, just the launch coil). Maybe I should be looking into the ic's to make sure they are functioning properly, I have a cheap logic probe, just no freakin idea how to use it :)
