So I bought another arcade after getting the last one up and running. This time I have no neckglow. It's a 25K7197 with a p538 stamped on it. The game is playing blind. I went with the flow chart and started with the fuse. we're good on that. then I checked on the R301 B+, one side is 74 volts while the other is 54 volts. Chassis was repaired in '97. Just wanted to see if I should replace R301 or is it something else? Also, where do I buy R301? The highest watt for that resistor is 10watt. I can't find a 15watt.

Thanks in advance!

The way it works is the power comes up to that resistor and should already be much higher than that. R301 is probably fine. So if you only have 74 volts on one side, you've got a problem in the early stages of the schematics, look @ that standup resistor in the back right corner and see if it's still measuring alright.

Curious, what game was this I ? I just picked up a k7197 and k7191 complete monitors off of cl, and just curious what game the 7 could have potentially been in.

there's an array of big resistors in the middle of the chassis that carry power that way. the solder joints typically break down on them due to their heat. inspect the chassis for all bad solder and reflow as necessary. the flyback, signal header, and yoke header are also important to reflow.

I agree to check R103 and potentially the filter cap (the largest one in the corner) as well. the tops of those are supposed to be flat, if yours has a noticeable bulge out the top then it's probably failing.

yes, your problem is not the resistor.

first do full caps since they are probably from 97 when it was serviced last.

second reflow everywhere and give the bottom of that chassis a good cleaning.

this will most likely solve your problem, and if you still have that low bplus on that resistor id replace the voltage regulator and start there.

Sorry for the late reply! Simpsons bowling! I still haven't got her working yet!
