Hey all. Been reading the forums for a few weeks now, figured I'd say hi. I've been toying with the idea of buying a few games or building a MAME machine for a couple of years now, but after me and my girlfriend went down to the Pinball Hall of Fame here in Vegas several weeks ago and played some old classics, I knew it was time to start. So, I started looking on the web for arcade sites/forums and found you all. Great site here! Tons of helpful people and information....certainly a great way to spead my work day! :)

And since I know you guys all like stories and pics...here's mine. Picked up my first game last week...a Ms. Pac-Man for $120. When I went to look at the game, it would turn on but there was just a bunch of scrambled characters on the screen. Brought her home, did a once over and found a wire that had been smashed by the coin door closing on it and was shorting to the door. Fixed that, powered it on...and working Ms. Pac-Man! It has a humbar, but otherwise looks and plays fine. Hopefully I'll have time this week to get in there and rip the filter board out and replace the fuses/fuse holders...then some clean up the inside and out some.

Well enough babbling, here's some pics. I think the flash made the colors look more faded than they actually are.

Welcome aboard, and nice score! Looks like all you need is a CPO and you're golden! :D

That is a very nice score for 120.00 - congrats.

Refurbish that control panel with paint, a new CPO, and new buttons and it will look great.

Welcome to the hobby.

You know its sad that Brentradio decided to leave the hobby just as you were joining. He was one of the greatest assests to this place, and his collection and website were second to none. He was in Vegas and could have been the perfect mentor for you. Check out his thread about his attempt at the Atari vector cockpit. It was awesome.

This is very addictive indeed...so much so I had just planned on doing a little researching/reading during halftime of one of the games yesterday and next thing I knew I heard the announcer say the 3rd quarter was over. There isn't much that gets me away from football like that!

Luckily my new hobby is fully supported by my girlfriend/fiance. We both have gamed forever and each want a dedicated gameroom when we buy a new house in a few years...so we decided to start collecting now. Already have my eye on a few more games, hopefully those will pan out soon.

Welcome to the madness! You done good with that Ms. Pac - as has been pointed out, throw a new cpo and buttons on there and it will look great. The pink looks really good - hardly faded at all. You'll be surprized at how quickly your collection will grow. Just when you think that you need to slow down, a sweet deal will pop up, and well... :) At least your girlfriend is on the same page as you concerning your collecting, that's HUGE.
