Another Gottlieb Sys 3 issue...

Hey guys,
I'm working on my Gottlieb Street Fighter 2 pin and something weird is going on.
All I did was rebuilt the flippers and now the game won't recognize Free Play.
I mean, it was set to Free Play before and when I went to test the flippers it's not anymore AND I can't change it back. It won't coin up or anything.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I can tell you how I set it for free play...MAYBE it will get you around this gremlin:

1- Open coin door
2- Set tournament switch on
3- This part is up to you, but I sometimes reset factory settings when I get funkiness. I don't remember if it will erase scores...so beware:
3A- Go to test
3B- Game settings
3C- hit start to reset
3D- hit start again
3E- hit the slam tilt on the coin door
4- At this point you should see the DMD mention it is in tournament mode and L/R button will step/select
5- You should get the tournament menu with Free Play as the first option. Select on and change whatever else you want.
6- Close coin door

I otherwise can't see how the flipper rebuild would mess with the free play setting. Unless maybe the start button isn't working? Maybe you knocked the wiring to something else around while doing the rebuild? It sounds dumb, but on my SF2 I've accidentally knocked shit off the underplayfield without knowing it while working on something else (one time it was a capacitor to the ramps while cleaning an unrelated part...I had no idea for a long time how I screwed up the ramps opening/closing by just messing with the car crunch :p).

Yeah, the problem is that it's not recognizing the flippers or the interlock switch. I can put it in test mode but that's all it'll do...

i am having the same exact problem with my system 3 by gottlieb. It will not recognize my flippers in the menu although they work when actually playing. Let me know if you figure this out bud

Yeah,
I saw your post.
What preceded the issue? Did you do anything, change anything?
Maybe that'll help me figure out what's going on.

Will the flippers still flip? If not, try checking the fuses on the transformer block. I once blew the solonoid fuse down there when I accidentally dropped something on the transformer while the game was on (forget which one it was...but it should be marked). Everything else would work EXCEPT, obviously, the solonoid driven stuff and the start button for some weird reason.

I can't start a game to check.
I checked all the fuses first thing.

On mine, the flippers still flip when in the test menu.

If it isn't any of the fuses on the playfield or transformer, I'm afraid I am stumped. That's about all I know to check with this issue.

Ok,
So I tried the tournament button and there seems to be no change.
One thing I noticed that seemed weird is that when the flipper leafs make contact there's a tiny spark. All 3 do this.
On this game the interlock switch has never done anything, meaning it's never been functional. It's not the switch itself because I tested that in my Stargate.

I looked up the "Switch Matrix" and since I'm new to working in pins I'm not sure what it means....
But the coin chutes, tournament switch & service switch (interlock?) are all on the same line.
...I'm just not sure what that line is...
Are they wired from one to another in series?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
