Ok I have been searching and reading up on G07's I recently bought a PP with the orig G07 and as some others I have read about It doesnt come on or show anything or glow. I have read that I will most likely need a cap kit, flyback and whatever else to rebuild. My question is:

At what point is the monitor bad as in no longer worth trying the norm cap kit/fly back? How can you tell, or is this just normal for G07's and I just need to pull it out and start rebuilding?

It appears in good condition, no fuses blown, just a bit dusty thats all. Thanks

Theres not very many chassis that are as beautiful and reliable than a rebuild G07. I am sure that if you didnt want to risk wasting money and rebuilding it only to find that isnt your problem, I am sure there are several more experienced KLOVers who would buy that chassis off you and/or give you credit towards a totally rebuilt one. Chris208somethingsomething (sorry, I forgot the rest of the numbers :p) does great work.

Cool, this is the first G07 ive ever dealt with and I would love to learn and rebuild it I just was wandering also how to make sure the monitor will work after of is the tube gone? It does have really good PP GAME OVER burn in. I just am not sure if its completely dead or is it able to be brought back to life..

I have the same issue, and it's making my 'butt hurt.'
lol

Anyway, ordered a repair kit from B.R., see if that helps.
Does look alot easier than the Sanyo EZ....

Oh your a funny guy for sure....LOL

Yes it does seem easier and I was reading your posts when I was searching for help with this problem. I was thinking of doing the same with BR and replacing it all to see if it works myself. I might have to wait till after i move but yea my question was will this bring it all to life I mean it seems crazy to think you turn it on and nothing so you rebuild and (if all is done right) it works...I hope so, mine has some good burn in but id keep it original...

Yeah, mine's got some Game Over burn but not too horrible.
For now I have a Wells??? monitor hooked up, but having PCB issues....

I figured if I want to keep the monitor anyway, may as well rebuild the whole damn thing so hopefully it lasts a little longer.... That's if the parts fix it.:001_ssuprised:

It was sold as working, but yeah, I get the same as you when I tested it.

I dont have any other monitor in it now hell my stuffs in storage awaiting my move. But id love to keep the original monitor in it if I can, when I bought the PP the guy said the tube didnt come on no picture but when I got it home and noticed that it was a G07 I was of course excited to have one and also saw the anode cap was off so I figured that was it, and yet i plugged it back in and still no go....I enjoy learning about the monitors so I am hoping once I get settled I can get it done, I'll be watching and reading your every move when your doing yours so plz keep me updated...LOL good luck bro

LOL ok, I'll document the epic repair.

May I ask how much you paid?

Mine was on CL and the guy just wanted it gone, It had been a renters and he didn't want it. It is a complete PP ur great artwork, no back door, all things original (to include the spilled soda everywhere.) The board works and has sound (need to change out the leaky batt) just no picture at all. $50 he said many ppl called and I grabbed it. I know its not a grail but it was one of the first games I had ever played in the Pizza Hut arcade. I had an ur and a PP2 cp in my own arcade back in the day so I had to....What about you?

A member was selling the cab for 50 with no PCB or monitor, but most everything else was there. I was interested in that. I wound up getting two cabs and two monitors for about 200. He also threw in an extra control panel and delivered them. Cabs seem to be mostly complete minus the crucial PCBS.... That's where the big money is... :(
I bought an untested one from Davez but of course it didn't work. Not sure what route I wanna take now. Hard to risk more cash on such horrible PCBs.. Maybe I'll send to that Dick guy, little low on cash to do much with it yet.

I haven't yet found a G07 that was unrepairable. Even fixed one that had been stepped on and broken in half. Tubes can be replaced, too...

Hey Mode:

Thanks for that i guess it all can be done huh? Ive only done cap kits before so when I get all the parts and dig into it, i guess i'll learn a lot. Yea Ive heard a lot of great things re: G07's so that is why when I saw it was still in there I wanted to keep it.

hey both of you guys can ask me any newb questions on a G07. i just did a full Bob Roberts Rebuild on my G07-CAO so im very familiar with all the problems you might run into lol. And im a total newb and was able to get it all to work. Im still having a problem with distorted graphics but im working on that now. Make sure you check out Bob roberts site for the differenced in the CAO/CBO chassis etc. Good luck man!

Theres not very many chassis that are as beautiful and reliable than a rebuild G07.

Just recapped a G07 today.

Of 12 caps replaced, 7 were bad, "bad" being defined as anything from "measured 165uF instead of 220uF", "2.0uF for 3.3uF" to "a few hundred nanofarads instead of 4.7uF", and both of the 10uF 250V caps (one on the neck board, one on the main board, completely unrelated parts of the circuit, so if yours are still there, and are purple, I'd replace 'em) had not only leaked, but were dangling by one leg working only with whatever electrical contact the original pin was still making with the guts of what was left of the capacitors.

And yet with half the electrolytics well out of tolerance or outright dead, the only symptom was a slight (20%) decrease in vertical deflection and a corresponding increase in brightness. That's what I call a bulletproof design.
