So - I'm working on a 4600 and take it from dead to pretty much fixed, take it out to my hot garage for testing, and it has a weird wave to it. The entire picture looks like it's doing a really slow hula. What weird is that as the wave moves up the screen, the colors change in the corners. I assumed it was a problem with the degauss coil, so I unplugged it with no change. Then I changed out the entire left wall (with the VR and power pcb) with no change. Then I changed the filter cap and the X601 diode with no change.

So while I'm standing there pondering what the hell is going on, i decide to do some voltage checks. I move the little fan (that's trying to keep me cool) sitting on my bench to the side - and the wave goes away. Wasted half a day on that stupid shit...

Nice one! :beerchug:

Similar story... I had a blue tint to a monitor and I just couldn't adjust it out. I got my 9 year old daughter to help since it was still in the game so she was my eyes. No matter what I did she said the black always looked a little blue. So one time I came around front and she said "Wow, that's perfect now!" and we thought we were done. So I went back around back to put the door on and she said "Oh no... it's blue again!". So I go back around front and she goes back to "Wow, it's perfect again!".

Come to find out the BLUE leds I mounted up on the ceiling were making the black screen look BLUE. When I would come around front to the game my shadow would block the blue LEDs and the screen would look normal.:rolleyes:

oh man these are some classics right here, definitely Broodwich moments... lol

I remember the FIRST ever monitor issue I had waaay back when the first question YOU asked me was "is your game plugged into a power strip shared by a fan?". :p
