This is fitting in my theme of having twins games since I have a pair of twin boys. Mario Bros, DD, Operation Thunderbolt, SF2 ...

So I had a game listed on CL for a couple of weeks trying to sell it when a kid emails me asking if his DD cab would be worth anything for trade up to my machine listed. I then asked for a description of it and it was clearly a dead dedicated DD. He was only 10 from me so I went to check out the machine in his garage man cave. It was dead but still an original alternate color DD with only one good sized ding on the left (facing) side right against the T-molding.

We plugged it in and it showed nothing but the marquee and coin door lights. I didn't want to mess with it saying that it obviously need to be completely gone over.

Sorry for the blurry phonecam pics. I have not pulled the good pics off of my real camera yet. Stupid DSL line is acting very slow...

He turns out didn't have any cash to buy up to my machine so I offered $60 cash for his machine and he said, "sure, better than nothing" He actually got the thing for free from friend that won it from a Golfland.

I got it home after going back at night (after Chinese New Year Dinner)

I started pulling it apart.

• MB was dead
• Fuses were falling out but I just put them back in and tested for continuity – good.
• Pulled the whole K7000 monitor and threw it on my test rig. It came up and I adjusted the colors and sizes. Cleaned the tube up and put it back in (holding off on the cap kit and rejuv/clean for later)
• Cleaned up the mother board tray and looked over the wiring in there.
• I dropped in a DD board from my other DD project (I have a converted grey DD machine stored, and bought a DD kit from a KLOV'r)
• Dropped in the DD Control panel that I had been cleaning up – restoring
• Swapped the cracked marquee for the one I had from the kit.
• Removed the lock bars

It still needs

• A total clean up of sides and all of the interior dust.
• Rebuild the coin door that's a little worn and bent
• New front glass to replace this acrylic replacement.
• Monitor caps and Rejuv/Cleaning
• New locks all around.

Now I have a pair of these alternate color cabs. The only ones I've ever seen are my two and Eseyos. http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=160356

maybe I need to trade one for a black cab so that I can have one of each.

For my other cab, other than running Cadash, Growl, Rastan, Taito F3 in it... I'm going to also get this interesting Taito G-net modified board for it.

Taito G-net runs mostly some rare Japanese games that no one has heard of but there are some interesting looking games on there. The hacked board lets you swap games as easy as changing the flash card. It's basically PlayStation one hardware. It also has the arcade version of my wife's favorite Nintendo DS game Zookeeper/Zooo.... oddly from Taito makers of the original Zookeeper... this is a puzzle game. Much like bejeweled.

I was so intent on getting it just right that I just went ahead and tested/rejuv the tube first. After adjusting it it still was dim on the colors so I swapped in a different rebuilt chassis showing that it was in fact in need of caps also.

I went ahead and capped the original chassis and put it back in tonight. I even washed the board down with some alchohol I had loaded onto a spray bottle.

I actually used a SF2 board for it's color bars. It makes a good test patern generator to tune colors etc. Once I got the DD board back in I did final tune and here's the results.

It's really nice when you get your own monitor working really nice and crisp looking. After a while playing around with getting the right controls into the original DD CP and tuning the monitor, I'm really pumped on this game. I couldn't be happier w/ how the image looks on it.

If I didn't intend to use this as a swappable Growl and Cadash Twin cab, I'd throw in a different width cap so that it would be easier to adjust to fill the screen up.

I swear at one point BITD we had a Double Dragon, factory dedicated, with a totally different marquee. The marquee had 2 dragons and Double Dragon written horizontally. Anyone ever see such a thing?

Of course, I also claim to have seen a Williams WPC board type Riverboat Gambler, which no one can verify. Maybe I just had weird, vibrant dreams back in the heyday :p

The Neo Geo Double Dragon logo on the flyer has two dragon heads.

Oh yeah! That's my favorite DS game as well. Went to Japan and was astounded to see Taito Zookeeper merch in one of their ubiquitous vending machines. Of course, I had to drop all my coin on it!

yeah it plays great on the Double Dragon cab. I need to shoot a video of the G-net board after getting it working this weekend.

Oddly this game isn't listed in KLOV. It however was only a Jpn release.
