Just last week i picked up another donkey kong...blue. So now i will have one of each. The guy was asking 350 for it...awsome shape...barely any cab damage...started it up and it had sprites and monitor was wavy...told the guy that it probably needed cap kit and possibly some pcb work. He told me on phone it worked 100%. So i drove the 6 hours to check it out...before i could make a counter offer the guy dropped 250 off the price! He needed it out of his house and he felt so bad that i drove 6 hours to look at a "messed up" machine....so i got it home....messed with connections...and besides wavy monitor...it works 100%!! Cant believe i only paid 100 for this baby....So maybe i will wait till summer to work on this one..what little work it needs...

SWEEET! :)

I once got a converted Ms Pacman cab with a Namco Classics 2 board in it under the understanding that the video didn't work, got it home and found out the video cable was unplugged, other than needing a cap kit it worked beautifully!

plywood...also same guts as my red dk.... 4 board pcb....same power supply and monitor...nice thing is that marquee and cp are both original...I have my new cp on there now since original needs some joystick work...Since i now have two 4 board dks...is there a way to convert one back to original programming with the ladder cheat??

Looks really good. Ply or particle cab?

few more pics...so i was just going over the cab...there are a total of 10 small nicks in this cab...from 8 feet away you cant see any of them...there is an 8 inch gouge on upper left of right side of cab...tried uploading pic but couldnt...that is only noticable gouge from distance...what would you guys do to restore this cab? I dont think that stripping down...fixing just those few holes...and repainting the whole cab is worth it?

looks nice, I would leave it alone

I think you are right....i have put so much time and effort into my red dk cab i could puke...and its not even painted yet. I think with this one i will get new side art...new bezel retainer instruction sticker...new coin sticker...powdercoat coin door and marquee brackets...get new bezel...this one has a large scratch going right through it...new faceplate kits from NERDendo...and rebuild joystick. Would you do anything to cover gouge and nicks?? Still want to know if i can convert one of the 4 board sets back to original with ladder cheat....??

ok...heres a pic of gouge...doesnt look like much...but it is indented and is about 8" long...

the largest part of gouge would be covered by side art..but the gouge goes all the way up to about 1.5 inches from top. What would u use to fill in these little nicks and gouges? dont wanna use bondo as that would damage more area from sanding...Or should i not even worry about it? Maybe get some paint matched and just do a little touch up??

if the side art covers that area you could maybe fill it in before applying. otherwise I would leave it be.

Yes. You replace the (4) main program EPROMs on the CPU PCB with ones containing the older "ladder trick" code.

Being that you have a TKG3-06 boardset, and the black iso(!) in the cab, it's entirely possible that your machine came with the "cheat" originally and the chips were replaced with the "upgrade" chips BITD.

One week ago I picked up a DK with no monitor, in a mess of a particle board cabinet that will need major work to look nice (if it's even possible), paid $75 for it, and thought I was getting a deal. Add on the gas (few hours away), and it actually cost me $115.

And I haven't begun to get it running or looking good.

Meanwhile, YOU grab one fully functioning, in plywood, that looks great, for $100.

Color me annoyed!
