Well, 8:00 comes along so I decide to call the seller to confirm the deal. No one picks up the phone. So I call again at 8:30, and the guy casually mentions that someone else offerered higher for the game, and that if I still wanted it I would have to top the best offer. I respectfully declined and said that I would be firm with my current offer, and then I hung up.

That happened to me on my first Tron. Guy listed it for $200, and it immediately turned into a bidding war. I offered $350 as my first offer. He calls back and says he has a $450 offer. I say $400 is my best offer and I can deliver cash tonight. He calls back and says $450 guy backed, so do you still want it for $400. There was never a $450 guy and he got me to bid higher - asshole. I agreed to $400 and only brought $350 with me (I'm an asshole too!). Ballsy move since it was 3 hours away, but he did sell me the game for $350 when I got there.

Ha! That's an awesome story. You managed to out-ass the asshole, that's awesome xD Then again, though, when you're countering an asshole, I would say that's considered justice instead of double asshole... but that's just my opinion. Seriously, though, that's got to be the best 'negotiation' tale I've seen.

It was a little bit more complicated than that. Basically, the seller had the game at a storage facility about 30-40 minutes away from where I live. He said to show up at the storage place at 6:00. Since it was already about 5:20, I hurried up and prepared the van and left. About 5 minutes in, I get a call from the seller. He said that he "needs to go to the shop" for a couple hours and that I should leave my place at 8:00 instead so that I would arrive at around 8:30.

Sorry to hear about that, ive been burned before too. Oh well, still you can daydream about kicking his ass Sgt Hartman style. If you secretly have "The Force", the guy might feel his ass kicking during your daydream.

That is epic. When you get to Upstate NY I'll buy you a drink to that!
