Well, it started off stopping by a garage sale I was passing and saw a few arcade machines. SO I started talking to the guy, he had a Raiden fighters or something, Superman, and MK1 with a MK3 kit installed (I really wanted that kit lol). So I'm talking to the guy and he happens to mention he has more machines. So I am expecting him to show me a gameroom inside the house, but no, he informs me his dad used to fun a route in the 80's and 90's, and they have around 100 arcades and pinballs stored up, majority of it in a few starage units the past 5 or 6 years. So I am excited, and next day I arrange to check it out. The old man just wants to get rid of it all, and I told him I would buy it all and get it out of his hair...

There were some classics, classics converted and a few newer machines, cool thing was all the classics he converted he kept all the original parts including a couple Tempests. Among the crowdedness of the two storage units which were jam packed, I found a couple red tents, looked like brand new Pole Position marquees and bezels, Mortal Kombat dedicated, Star Wars original dedicated, Ms Pac Man, Simpsons, a few champ Sprints, Centipede, couple Funhouse Pins, Terminator 2 pin, Simpsons Pin, Lethal Weapon 3 pin, Phantom of the Opera Pin, damn just a ton of stuff... He even has a Tron at his house he would throw in he said because I saw a control panel there so I asked about it. Tons of parts too.

I'm digging the crystal castles -> tetris conversion.

haha yeah, you should have seen the Tempest conversions... I think one got made into a Pit Fighter.... I didn't check but the old op told me all the cabs that got converted the original parts are in the cab... crossing fingers....

Good thing I am broke and not close. I see a nice Crystal Castle with tetris, and Road Riot.

Wish I could find a deal like that. I now have the room for a bulk buy if the games were cheap enough.

Terrible to see the Star Wars and Tempest there. You know darn well the monitors and boards are long gone. I think you're going to deal with a guy that will be asking the price of a working game rather than seeing it as a restoration process. That'll work against you. I'd tell him what a pain it is to find the parts not to mention the cost involved and leave it at that.

BTW - those guys are great finds because chances are him and/or his Dad will know of other OPS you can raid. Ask for names and phone numbers.

great advice!

Actually the Star Wars was complete, including the monitor... and the price he quoted me for everything was very reasonable... one of the best I have run across... he is old and doesn't want to move thus stuff...

I spy a red tent. :)

Nice find Kris! I'm definitely still interested in a dedicated Neo Geo (2 or 4-slot) if you'll have a working one available. I know it will take some time to get all this stuff sorted, tested and priced so that's cool with me. It will be some time before I can save up and make the trip up to Napa anyways. Just let me know!

It looked like that Ninja Clowns was in a SmashTV cabinet. I guess we can see why this stuff ended up in storage. It was costing them a fortune paying people to play these bastards. :)
