Another Berzerk restoration

I think Sunburst Red and Sail Blue are the best bet for these colors.

I saw those colors used on a restoration on zinfer.com. I think Phet mentioned he used safety blue and sunrise red. Both looked pretty good. I'll probably go with whichever of these colors I can find at home depot.

There are a couple places that need a little touchup, but all in all pretty happy with how it came out for being my first attempt at stenciling.

Looks awesome, NICE JOB!

Quick question, is the stapler you used for the bottom of the cab just an air-powered standard issue staple/brad nailer?

Yes. It uses 1/4" staples up to 1" long. Picked it up at Lowes. Wish I had sprung for the 1 1/2" max staple size.

You know, it looks as good as it can. When I stencilled mine, I never was completely happy with it because of the stupid sand texture. You can see it looks OK, but not perfect:

I clearcoated mine which helped even it out:

but the 2nd coat gave it a glossier finish:

I love Berzerk as a game, but the factory treatment of the cabinet was sub-par for sure. Hell, they didn't even add the 2nd horn to the little robot. Now get it in the game room and play it.

Phet - when you clear coated yours, did you spray from a rattle can? Seems like it would be real hard to get it covered evenly (at least for me). Also, did you do anything to try to even out the edges on the stenciling?.

The clear coating evens it out. I used a high quality varnish brush and a thinned poly so it would self level better. The cab is so textured you can't even tell. I played the shit out of this game last night and got the 2nd place HS of 7800.
