Another Bally Brain Buster (Mr & Mrs Pacman related)

Any body have an idea why the pac maze would move slow as $hit? Some lights are out on the pac-maze board. I know some of these are controlled by the lamp driver board, and others controlled by the aux lamp driver. My aux lamp driver is perfect, and MOST of the lights are working in test (4 out). Could the slowness of the pac-maze be caused by a problem with the lamp driver board? Otherwise, the game is working at about 95%. Just some sockets and switches need to be replaced/adjusted. It came a long way. Thanks again guys.

What do you mean by slow? When you're playing and you enter the maze it's slow to respond to your button presses? A little of that is normal but if it's excessive I would look at the clock circuit first. Something could have gone out of spec slowing the clock slightly.

I've seen the maze be slow to respond when playing that game lots of times. I've wondered if overclocking slightly would solve it but it might have unexpected results on the rest of the game. You could try a Stern MPU-200 in there and really jack things up :)

It's weird, the button to change the direction is instantaneous and doesn't slow down, while the button to move, there is about a 2 second delay between pushing the button and the actual move. I looked at videos of other machines and it seems the move part can be very fast, where you can tap the button multiple times and the pac-maze will move as fast as you can tap. video below. Below is a video my wife took ok the pin while I played, then just put the ball in the pacman saucer. You can see everything else works the way it should (besides a couple of switches), and when I get into the pac-maze, the direction change button is instant, but the move button there is a terrible lag. I did fix the lack of background after this with the game adjustments. I am wondering if there is an adjustment for pac-maze speed. (for some reason embeded video wasn't working, sorry. Thanks for the help.

An update: I pulled off the lamp driver board and noticed a bunch of the header pins were cracked, so I re-soldered all that stuff. Now pretty much all the lights work, even on the pac-maze, but the pac-maze is still slow. Should I just try the clock circuit?
