FIRST!!!!I just got done burning and installing these into my Outrun, it's AWESOME!! I set mine up for "Free Play, and the new MPH setting. Played a game and got 1st place, shut it down, and then powered it up 2 minutes later. The score WAS saved!! This is what every Outrun owner was waiting for!! Thanks so much!!

Wow! This is great. I will be burning some new ROM's for my Outrun.

And don't worry about the sound glitch. Having it make that weird sound (when attract sound is set to off) is one of Outrun's lovable quirks.

I can't wait to update the code and put in a bigger cap to hold the scores longer.

Darren, what specific cap due you recommend using to replace the existing one? I have a large stock of caps so Ill through one in when I send the eeproms . xxuf xxxVolt???

I'd look for 1.0F or 1.5F, 5.0V or 5.5V

That's one Farad... not one microFarad (1 Farad is 1,000,000 microFarads).

It' not a conventional type capacitor. They're commonly called "memory backup capacitors" or "super capacitors."

Get someone with a ROM burner to burn you the 4 replacement ROM's and then swap them in. It sounds like that's all there is to it.

Excellent. I've had a couple requests for an Outrun score save over the years, but I never owned the game (or sought it out). Several folks here are going to be very happy to see this. Nicely done.

If you will be offering these to KLOV members, please let me know since I would like a cap and the four PROMs. I have a burner, but I don't believe it will burn PROMs that large.

Those caps look to be about 4.00 each, how much did you pay for yours?

In bulk I got then for $2 each. I won't move them till I'm setup with the chips. It could take a few weeks. I'm unsure how many chips to order as I can get the prices pretty cheap in bulk also.
