Announcing: Atari Assault high score save

Installed and working!

Should anyone care, I've put up a set of pictures similar to what Matt did at

http://www.kohne.org/mike'sprojects/installing-the-assault-hss-multigame

The only difference is that I used pin-strips to create a raised socket so that I didn't have to solder directly to pin 30 on the EPROMs. That way, should another upgrade occur, I won't have to get out a soldering iron in order to send my chips in for re-programming.

Awesome implementation. I have one kit to install for my own game being restored and will be contacting Matt about another one.

I also let a few other Assault owners know about the next batch.

Best,

Bill

Nicely done! I created a link on my page to yours.

I have 5 left. Order today and they'll ship out tomorrow. Price is $40 each, shipping included. PayPal to [email protected] ("gift" payments are always appreciated, but please remember to include your mailing address in the comments section if you choose that method).

I have just one kit left now. After that these will only be made on-demand, so there will be a waiting period (~week or two before shipping) to get one. Thanks.

Bumping an old thread.
Is there anyone left out there with an Assault that doesn't have my high score save installed? No excuse.... just plug-n-play.
I think I have the parts on hand for 4 more kits.

I recently let one Assault owner know about your kit and should have already contacted you.

Yes, thank you. Erik is enjoying Assault Plus now. That is what made me think to bump this thread. Prior to that, I hadn't sold a kit in several months... was starting to think that maybe every Assault owner out there already had one. :)

What is the "choice of two different games at start" and can you disable the 2 player option in the settings?

Taken from wikipedia:

Assault was followed by Assault Plus, an upgraded version with redesigned visuals and color palettes, and adding higher-ranked enemies to earlier stages; instead of a linear run through all 11 stages as in original Assault, the game is presented in episodic format, with each episode titled "Rehearsal for the Core" and "Battle for the Core" respectively. Rehearsal takes place in Stages 1, 3, 4, 5, and the first area of Stage 1 - and Battle contains all the stages except for Stage 1.

I don't think there is a setting to disable 2-player games, but without a 2P Start button you just won't be able to start one. With the 2 or more credits on the machine it will say "PUSH 1P or 2P BUTTON".
