Since I posted the Karate Champ... ( http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=159586 )

I figure I better post the other half of that deal.

I was told this machine had a bad monitor and it was easy to see why....

The old drink on the top trick! Spilled right down into the cab and all over the neck of the monitor.

Well I plugged it in to see if it would play or play blind and after some fizzing sound the monitor filled the room with the worst smelling toxic white smoke! The good news was that it did coin up and play.

The Gauntlet had the majority of the paint specks on it and the bottom was covered with floor wax splatter.....

The good thing about dirt is sometimes the dirtier they are the better they clean up. I think that a dirty cpo sometimes keeps the hand oils and constant rubbing from destroying things.

The side art on the left was almost all there...

Wow, nice to see a 2-Player Gauntlet. It was pretty slick machine.
And by the way, this was in the same cabinet type as Rolling Thunder.

Hope that it cleans up nice.

Awesome. I have never seen one of these in person. Look forward to seeing how it looks after a little bit of clean up!

Heres's a shot of the specks I was talking about.....

I was lucky that it was water based paint. I was too lazy to clean it off the back after I picked every dot off the rest of the cab!

It came out really nice and has a working monitor in it now too! I love Gauntlet!!

I am going to bead blast and repaint the speaker grill later this week.

I do like this....

1. Simple Green or 409
2. 409 or Simple Green
3. 409
4. Windex and a toothbrush
5. Pledge

This and a bit of a thumb nail works wonders!
