Andys80s EDOT Adventure

Looks really nice. How did you do it or what all did you do to it?

You're lucky yours was in such good shape and not cracked and torn like the rest of ours. However, with an EDOT at least you have the Mame marquees version to tide you over until Rich does his.

I'm curious on the paint pen. Is it transparent at all? If it is, it would be better than the highlighter trick for the light covers...which is hardly worth the time.

Mine just came home today! Ill have pics to post tonight. Looking at it again now its gonna need some major work...and I can't wait! ;)

On that paint pen its not transparent but pink. I know that they make some fluorescent paint that is clear and shows up under black light...I might play with this a bit down the road.

Way to go Nevus on that score...Can't wait till mine is in that condition!

Thank you to steph. This will be coming to my home soon. Andys80s and modessitt have inspired me. Details to follow after arrival.

Did you have it shipped? If so, pm on how much shipping was. I'm curious.

uploading the cab pics now....
How funny is it that there is a "OMG What have I gotten myself into!" thread right above this one. (because that what I was just thinking) ;)

ok here they are

After playing the thing for over an hour I have to say its not much to look at but sure plays great...everything but the overhead lights (they are always a prob from what I read).*and I know the board is not in ;)

Everything else works 100%. I don't think that this cab is going to make it. :(

Wow...tough luck on that cab. It could be fixed with A LOT of time and Bondo...or just get a new cab. I think DPtwiz was/is making them.

I had heard that he was/is making one but didn't see it on his site. I think I will salvage what I can and just do it myself. I will have to give the cabinet another look tonight (spent most of last night playing it!) and see if anything can be done.

The tough thing is trying to save the artwork. It looks like the extension/seat can be salvaged, but the bottom of the main cab should just be cut off and rebuilt. I did that with my Tron and worked out well. Scary to cut off 8" from the bottom, but it was much better for it.

I had thought about that. Cutting of 2 or 3 inches and using biscuts or dowels to put it back together...I just hate a lot of bondo. The artwork I will be scaning and having my printer work on fixing it up. I have sent several emails to some of the folks around here but have not heard anything back. I know everyone is busy so please don't anyone take that the wrong way. ;)

Can someone do me a favor and take a few pics inside the back of the cab of the light behind the rear scenery and how the rear scenery is mounted in the cab. My rear scenery is just laying in there and there is no light.

(with the scenery removed)

Last night I took the light from benind the players feet and a bulb from one of the big man lights and used this to light up the scenery and it worked fine. What I need to see is how this stuff is mounted in there. The operating manual I have from the net kinda shows but it is hard to see.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have access anymore, but the rear scenery fits in the grooves on top and bottom, and has a bracket that screws to the wood supports on the left and right side...

I would definitely try to keep the original cab if you can.

If you replace it, then it's no longer an original EDOT.

I just found this shot on the net...it helps but I would like a few more.

It looks to me like the back of the door should be white? Can someone tell me....mine has been painted black.

So tonights fun was taking out the security bars and then the coin doors. First some knuckle head had used hot glue on the threads of all the security bolts...so that took way longer than it should have.

After that I got the coin door frame out with no problem.
I know that these games had coin inserts that said 2x25 1-play. I have not seen these reproduced anywhere so I was hoping that they were under all the black paint that someone (#$%&*) had taken the time to rattle can the whole coin door.

well after I took the first one out it was covered with some kind of sticker...

After some warm water and a little thumb scraping this is what I had...

so I figured I had a matching set. The other one was a bit harder to clean up as it was just painted with no sticker over it.
I figured that if I messed it up that I had the one to reproduce with the ones I am having made now.

I used some zeitgeist graffiti remover on it and to my surprise this is what I found...

I don't remember ever seeing a Bally token insert...although im sure I must have as a kid!

I also used the zeitgeist on the coin door plate knowing that I can get a repro...just wanted to see it.

I will have both these inserts reproduced with the batch I am having done.
