And so it begins.....

Here are the first shots of everything that has been taken off.

Marquee is in nice shape, but a bit of yellowing on the back side. Might try some novus...anyone?

a little paint and modeling pinstripe tape will fix this right up

please excuse some of the light...the skylight in the warehouse was giving me fits! oh and the camera was being a pain too.

These are the only two real problems with the big piece.

This metal cpo piece is gonna need some work on the red. Will have to see about breaking out the air brush for this.

I haven't seen an EDOT since the 80s. Are those pieces glass or plexi?

There is some moderate water damage around the bottom of the cabinet...looks like someone tried to touch it up with the ole rattle can and several parts have become collateral damage because of this....

This piece goes at the players feet

and these go overhead for the lights above

lots of overspray on these parts that you can't see

These pieces are plexi.

The mylar side mirrors are just junk. I will use these for a template.
(Sorry about the dark pic...damn camera)

DSC00994.jpg

Here is the floor pan. It is a bit crusty...but solid. Will blast it and have it power coated when I do the rest of the parts. Oh and the new sticker!

and heres the back...if anyone cares! ;)
Just surface rust...no big deal.

Heres a shot of the new floor decal and cpo. I was told that these were made by a guy named JaysunTen a while ago.

Thats all I have for now...getting the cab on Sunday.

I am having my printer get to work on the cabinet art. It will take some time no doubt.

Here is a bit of his past work for me...

Forgot this shot of the main monitor bezel. There are two...one with part of the art missing...but with great colors and another that is complete but is faded. Don't know what I am going to do about this yet.

and a nice backdrop piece in the middle...just one tiny tear on the edge on the right...don't think you will even see this.

and again sorry about the skylight!

The marquee is more plastic than plexi....the foot light plate and overhead light plates are plexi and the rest is all glass.

Can you get that floor decal repro'd? I need one. I need a new cpo too for my EDOT.

I emailed Jayson a while back and he said he had the vector files for the floor decal on an old hard drive. But that's as far as the conversation went.

FWIW, I'd be afraid to try that - Novus may be too abrasive, plus Bally/Midway marquees have huge bubbling issues on glass (I don't recall if DOT marquees are glass or not), and might not achieve the goal you want.

Agreed..try something gentler like a bit of dish soap..some warm water and a soft rag.

Im gonna look into having my guy do them...He was not in today. Stay tuned!

congrats andy on scoring this edot!

i def will be watching your restore thread.

sounds like its gonna be alot of work (esp the water damaged cab) but looks like this cab is in good experienced hands.

looking forward to the progress :) chris

speaking of the FLOOR DECAL...... i know for sure its on rich's "to do" list. just not sure how high of a priority it is for him right now.

Todays experiment.....

As I have planed to make a stencil of this piece and repaint all the graphix (it is not in the best of shape imo) I thought I would try something out.

DSC01012.jpg

after masking it off its easy to see how faded it is...

DSC01015.jpg

after using the paint marker...the color is a little brighter that I thought it would be...but not bad

DSC01019.jpg

DSC01021.jpg

The final result is not bad. But when I put it under the black light bulb I have... I had no glow. Im guessing that the fluorescent tube will have a different affect? I don't have one hooked up right now. Can someone tell me?

UPDATE!
I have now put this under a black fluorescent tube and all I can say is WOW! the paint pen works ;)

This paint is supposed to do the same...guessing it has to be the light.
