I picked this up for 500. Not a steal but I hadn't seen one around here all year. Now there are 3 or 4 local! Oh well. It plays great and I have all the cosmetic parts (except 1) to put it all back together.

It was one of the dustiest machines I have had in a while.

Here are a ton of pics.

I need a new 720 "The Ultimate Aerial Experience" overlay. Mine is all yellow like the rest of the art.
I have everything else coming.

Get me a straight on photo and I'll vector it up for you to have printed.

Up to you :D

Are you going to redo the silver with vinyl or paint?

Great project, look forward to seeing it.

Happy to say that oregonarcade had an extra This Old Game kit and I have it on the way!

After I let the guy I got it from know he told me that he didn't think that it was his fault and felt that he should not have to take "all" the responsibility for it.

I told him that I couldn't use it like this and would like to send it back for a refund. I got another overlay from him at the same time and he said that "since he didn't know me" he would do a refund only if I sent back everything I got from him.

I have decided to just eat it and not buy anything from him again. Kinda bs if you ask me...but oh well!

I'm keeping a close eye on this thread of course; I love a good 720 resto. Really sorry to hear about the overlay. It's clearly damaged. It looks like a top layer has come apart from the rest around the button holes. What a bummer.

I agree its not useable. Not sure who this is from, but definitely a reason to go with Phoenixarcade. I had an issue with a 720 boom box overlay that had a printing imperfection. It was extremely minor....I only saw it because I have OCD and want my 720 to be as close to perfect as possible. I sent a zoomed picture to Darin, and had a brand new, perfect overlay at my doorstep two days later. No questions asked, no request for the imperfect one back...nothing; he just took care of me.

That vinyl pull looks tough...I'm hoping to get to my 2nd full 720 restortation in the coming months, and am looking forward to this step.

Great job so far and thanks for the pictures; keep them coming. SKATE OR DIE!!!

Those overlays are very temperamental. I went through 2 boom boxes, and the second one still had separation...so, be forewarned.

Thanks for the heads up. I am assuming that it is a Phoenixarcade repo. Not sure how many folks are making them...can't say for sure and don't want to rain on his parade.
Thinking of having my printer print me one. Ill have to see.

Yes...and I have taken out one of the button holes and the top laminate came right off and there was no adhesive between the two??? My printer thinks that it might be heated for the sticking to occur. He said he had never done it that way. He is looking into it.

Maybe the Phoenixarcade guy knows.... ;)

thats interresting
without knowing if it were screened or inkjetted
or who made it for that matter. so its hard to say for sure
but...generally when screened the ink goes to the back side of the polycarbonate
in seperate colored layers youll notice on many pieces when something like this happns
its generally the colors and not the black.
Black just seems to "bite" into the poly better than some of the other colors.
the probelm is the adhesive that goes on behind these screened inks is stronger
than the the bind of the ink to the poly and will lift or pop right off.
inkjets are just the opoisite theye usally printed on a white substrate then
theres a layer of thin adhesive thats laminted to the polycarb

and temp will effect this especially when rolled or flexed.

That overlay looks to have the same problem my Tempest overlays did. Search if you wanna know more, including the seller. If it is the same seller, they're doing one hell of a job ruining sale potential. If it is someone different, it is really sad to see this spreading thru the CPO sources.
