Last weekend saw the last of my games being dispersed to the winds. :) Sold my co-worker a multicade in a Zaxxon cab that I got for $45 a long time ago. Same price. Figured it made sense.
Had a lot of fun, but also let the hobby get completely out-of-whack with real-world priorities. I think that scrapping of 100 games from the waterlogged trailers really was a bad idea in the long run. There were other more important things that I should have been doing.
Still, I have few regrets and lots of good friends that were made along the way.
I saved a few PCBs, some basic test equipment, and a 19" WGD9950 tri-sync. Maybe someday I'll build a mini out of it. For now, just focusing on the things that got neglected along the way, as well as seeking out new things to play and do. Hitting 50 and realizing that I'm in my last "trimester" of life really made me think. Instead of playing the same games, watching the same shows, listening to the same music; why not do different things? Tempest is amazing, but there are a host of games that I've never taken the time to enjoy and with no machines to maintain,.... well..... that's more time to actually do stuff. :)

The KLOV community has been great. Looking forward to getting back into the forums.

Enjoy your life. It's too short, and I'm a few years past you.

I hope you stick around, but understand if you need to cut ties.

nothing wrong with that, I sold off everything except one cab years ago and even all decor except one theatrical sized Dragons Lair poster. I did buy a pin about a year or so ago, but I bought it to resell and only had it a week (and made good money on it), even though I am "out of the hobby" I still check in here every single day.

You pulled a (the)gleek?!

That's life, congrats and good luck on your new endeavors.

Congrats on doing what's most important for you!

I consider arcade game collecting a hobby so it will always remain just that…a hobby.

Family and life come first, and always will.

No.

That was a fire sale due to something else. This is a conscious effort to reduce.

Bottom line: Keep doing what makes you happy. Because. after all...

Hey Rob, good to hear from you again. I can completely understand what's going through your head. I'm trying to get some of my house in order too now that I'm in the 50s. I spent so much time on other things that my personal stuff (games/house projects/toy car/etc) got ignored. So I'm turning a bit inward but in a different way so I can enjoy these things that I didn't get time for.

Hope all is well otherwise and yes, I still have the APB parts. I've accumulated everything I need to make it whole again but that's where everything else got in the way.

I wondered what happened to you, Rob.

It's sad that you overdid it in the hobby and burned out, but I'm happy that you are happy now! You'll be missed here on KLOV.

Congrats on getting out. I've been trying for years but cannot seem to find people willing to buy my games, monitors, parts, etc.

I may just rent a dumpster. Then I'll be done tomorrow 😌
