And now for something completely different- Coke Arcade

Never heard or seen this before. Came across it in a trade magazine "The Coca-Cola Bottler" Oct 1982!
Play " Catch a Coke" on one or "Spell Coke" on another.
"All the pizzazz of the electronic arcade" :D
Now I want another Coke machine ;)
Anybody ever see or have one?

I asked my Brother in Law, he's worked at Coke here in ATL for years, never heard of it either.

From the Hand Held museum: Bandai Games
http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Bandai/CatchACoke.htm
Licensed by Coca-Cola, this was given away to Coca-Cola sales people as an incentive device for selling their products. (It was not commercially available to the public.) Game play is the same as the Monkey Business and Jungler LCD games.
I've also discovered that the Coca-Cola company apparently placed a version of this game into a few Coke vending machines (on a trial basis) so you could play a little game while getting your drink. There are settings inside the vending machine version that allow you to choose anywhere from 10-30 seconds of game play. It seems Coca-Cola decided to abandon the project, and the games were removed from the machines and discarded (although several have popped up forsale over the years).
Here's a couple of pics of the vending machine mechanism (note also the 'Spell Coke' vending machine game in the second picture, another attempt to add a game of sorts to a vending machine):

Neat gadget, but practically useless. Why would you want someone standing in front of the machine for 30 extra seconds?

Ah, remember this was 1982 before the crash and the peak of video game craze, would you rather buy a Pepsi, or by a Coke AND play a game. All about marketing and cashing in on the craze.
As a game collector, Who wouldn't want one with a game in it?

Only place i'd ever played one of these was in the down town strip in WI Dells in 82, one was located right out side the Penny arcade. Neat, would love to have one now.
