I'm a 90% pin guy and have seen some dirty and uncared for machines. I thought ops took better care of vids, but my recent Sega GT purchase has showed me vids get the shaft also.
The Super GT had mounds of dust everywhere in the cab. Every vent was completely clogged! The monitor wires easily had 1/4 inch of dust-like stuff on them. The monitor yoke was covered. The other pcbs were covered. When I used compressed air to try and clean it, I needed a mask because so much black crap blew into the air. Ok, I did not use the mask but probably should have.
The dust stuff was so strongly attached that the compressed air did not remove a lot if it and I needed to wipe parts down.
The monitor had a thick coating on the front. Cleaning that really improved the picture!
Well... I suspect this is more common than I originally expected for vids.
It is a testament to Sega's design team that this thing kept working!
