An Indecent Proposal...

It is kind of weird that the US is about the only country where people get shit for living with their parents. In a lot of other countries it is a common practice for one to live with their parents for a long time and help with the family.

So you've been riding that bike since you were 7? Ditch it and buy a car if you don't already have one. Then go to college.

Ditch the bike, get an apartment and be able to bring chicks over to check out your games. :)

Nothing impresses chicks more than full size video games taking up space in an apartment.

You need to decide what to do:

Is the bike easily replaced? I'd bet the bike is more common than the vids if you ever want to get back into riding.

Are you going off to college next year? Dorm rooms are very small spaces, rarely will you have room for more than three machines in a dorm room.

Are either of these activities more social than the other? Social skills and the ability to socialize are major factors for women deciding who they will or will not date. If your arcade collecting is very solitary, isolating you from your peers, women will look at you like an outcast - or at the least very eccentric...

If you do go off to college, I would bring one game with you, and set it to take quarters. Could come in quite handy for beer money...

I say sell the bike... If your 17, you are going to want a bigger bike when your 25 anyways. ;)

If you have friends that ride and you ride alot - then keep your bike.
Unless it's an old KX, YZ or RM 125 you're due for a bigger bike anyway.
Ever heard the phrase "looks like a monkey fuckin a football?"
If you are going off to college you'd proabably have to sell the arcades off and I wouldn;t buy anymore right now.

Stay young and live at home as long as you can my friend. I'm 38 and would gladly move back in with my parents ;)

Exactly! Keep the bike. You always regret selling motorcycles. Also, you'll have contact with two groups of people, moto-x'ers and gamers. Many in our hobby shun contact with people (consciously or not) except through the interwebz. Do yourself a favor and keep gaming AND riding. You can get all the games you want when you're out on your own.

Come on now Deadly, you know 125's are fun as crap to ride.

Actually I re-read my post....let me clarify. The old school 125 2 strokes were fuckin sweet. Not only did they stand taller but their power bands were killer. So if it's an old school 125 keep it and ride the shit outta that thing.
If it's a newer bike (4 stroke) dump it!

Oh, I hear ya. I haven't met to many people that don't enjoy riding an old 125 2 stroke. I agree with the 250 4 strokes, I would probably just get a 450 myself. If I were still riding I was going to get a RM or YZ 250 as my next bike, but Ill just stick with mine until I start riding again.

Well,
Actually, I did hear of a guy catching Lou Gherrig's disease from moving a video game once. But thats a long story that no one here would believe.
As to the original question and this quote, I will paraphrase a bone surgeon who was talking to my father. He said, motorcycles are only good for one thing. Busting up the body. Its not a matter of if you will get hurt. Only when. This was after my dad had gotten his leg/ankle set after a kickstart on a high compression dirt bike had sprung up and broken his leg/ankle. So I would agree with the post below that arcade gaming seems like a safer hobby. I say sell the bike. Your parents love you or else they wouldn't be trying to bribe you. Try one of these instead.

Nobody ever broke a body part fixing/playing video games. ;)

Just sayin......

being parent id say sell the bike. I have 2 boys and if they mention getting a motorcycle Ill break thier legs for them - same diffrence and it will save them the money of buying a bike! Oh yah plus they will avoid that whole dying thing....at least from riding.
I guess ive seen too many bikes laying on the ground with a covered up body about 50 yards from it in Naples, FL when I lived down there. Its not the riders, just the poeple around them that dont pay attention and the biker gets it in the end. Im sure on a dirt bike your taking greater risks as well. Sucks growing up as you start to look at the "fun" things in diffrent light. Or maybe its just after having kids. Anyhow, the days of me wanting to skydive, Street race, etc are long since gone.

Bottom line is do what you want as its your life. But my opinion (as was asked by the OP in the first post) would be to get rid of the bike. I love both my boys more than anything and would HATE to see them in a box. Im sure thats what the OP parents are looking at as well.

Well, I really don't ride that much anymore... too busy with music. Also, I don't know if I mentioned that the games would be kept at the house when I went off to college. I think the one thing I would do is build a multicade cocktail game to bring with me, and the rest would be at home.

If the parents are offering up space in the home I bet you could do better. Tell them if it really matters to them that much once they get you a game like super hang-on you will sell your real bike :) Or better yet a car :)

Or better yet a car :)

Luckily for me, done :) I love my '98 Taurus! :) Oh, and I can borrow the truck to get games anytime I like.

Also, Its not like these games are going to rot for 4 years when I go away.... my dad saw some of the titles I was thinking of getting and was like "hmm.. Missle Command.. now thats a fun game..I remember Asteroids was a fun game too.."

So in other words, my dad will keep an eye over the games I get, to say the least :)
