An Absolute Sickness

How many guys here have a shed full of games. Not just a shed full of games but a shed full of games that need to be fixed/restored? How many guys here have not just games in need of fixing/restoring but have had these games in their posession for a couple years or better?

I feel it's pointless to have a ton of games that are in need of repair/restoration that are:
burning up valuable real estate
Tying up funds better used else where
Mediocre games that you bought because of a good deal
"most likely never" going to fix/repair and end up selling anyway.

That about sums it up for sure. It sure is fun to go get a game, though. Luckily every game I have is up and running. I guess I would be lucky to restore/fix 1 game per year.

4?!?? Pshhht noob. ;) I'm picking up my 8th this Sunday, I hope! :D

My problem is I spend a lot of time on other people's stuff. That and my friends keep sending me CL links. :p

I relate to your problem all too well, Frizz! :D

I have a garage with not one, not two, but 4 project cabs I am working on... and I have 3 monitors I need to re-cap... and I notice a P-47 come up locally for $150... it's in what appears to be a Taito cab and it appears to be working. I need another project like I need a hole in the head... WHY am I having a hard time not contacting this seller and getting that game?

>ARRRRGH!!<

I told the wife I would finally arrange things so at least half the garage would be open to park her car in.. I have 2 projects on the go, one a Pac that has been stenciled and I am rebuilding the monitor with a new crt..etc.. pieces everywhere for the last month as I just don't have time... Well the side was clear for about a week, no car got in there... and on the way back home from work brought 4 more projects in so now back to no room for car... its a sickness man... funny thing is is there is barely enough room to even play them now..

sickness

Well, I have 2900 sq. ft to fill - but I'm out of a) spare time and b) spare cash.

I'm sitting on at least 10 projects, plus 3 pinball projects :-(

I had over 20 in my garage around 2 years ago, now i'm down to 8. The more cabinets I had to maintain the more stress it caused me. It feels good to get rid of some and making money is a bonus. But i've only seen 2 games for sale here in the last 2 years, and I bought both of those. If there were actually games for sale in my city i'd be all over it, but there isn't and I don't like driving far to pick up, so it's all good.

You should probably just go get it. Whats just one more? I decided not to pursue any stuff on CL for a while, but dumbass me keeps looking so when something comes up i either tell myself I don't want it or I make the call. - Barry

yeah, so you go to a warehouse raid and bring back stuff that's too useful for me to pass up.

got an appointment with Mike to clear out a lot of his spare Gorf parts on Wednesday.

gha!

Perhaps it is a sickness? What a strange complusion and absolute curiosity. It starts innocent. The innocence seeps from us, and the incidious nature of collecting or hording these machines ensnares us in a dusty cobweb. Caretakers and servants to this strange obsolete technology. These things so primitive and sublime remain present and become a daily reminder of our exciting youth.

Before the wall street theifs and liars devise a new scheme to pilfer your earnings spend what you can afford. Our lifes are defined by our sicknesses and losses. To hell with losses...buy it.

What's a "garage"? Is that like a "basement"? Someplace where you can store non-working (or working) games that won't fit in your house?

Hell, I call that a "storage unit", and I pay $135/month for the privilege of doing so.

But believe it or not, I now only have two cabs in the apartment that aren't fully operational. One just needs a cap kit (it's playable) and the other I'd taken apart, but could have running in a day.

Soon I'll be able to actually pull projects out of storage to work on them...
