First time repairing an Amplifone X-Y, this one in a Star Wars cockpit. Definitely a worthy cause!
It came to me with the Y deflection and spot killer sections totally blown. Most transistors were shorted or cracked, and I replaced several shorted diodes. I've now replaced enough parts to keep it from blowing up at power-on, and now get this picture (see attachments.) The top and right edges are compressed.
Both X and Y sections show a similar distortion, so I have to think that the problem is in a circuit that feeds/connects to both of them. Could it be the deflection board's power supply section? The spot killer section? I once had a Wells-Gardner 6100 in a Tempest whose image was "sucked in" on only one corner, and that turned out to be a bad germanium diode in the spot killer.
