Hello guys,
Was wondering if there an absolute way to tell if one of the three color guns is out of alignment making it impossible to do good convergence? I have spent a ton of hours trying to converge my SW Cockpit Amp to no avail. I know vectors are a pita to converge and will never be perfect it seems no matter what I try the blue vertical lines on left of screen are always too far out to the left to correct, if I tilt yoke to correct, then the vertical blue lines on the right of screen move out of alignment. I have tried another yoke, and new rings and the results are basically the same. I'm following directions in the 6100 book plus two other sets of slightly different directions I found on line. When I got the game yoke was loose, wedges were missing and rings were on backwards so I had to start from scratch. Anyone have any thoughts?

Sounds like you need to get your hands on some of those magnetic shunt strips. FWIW a vector will never be 100% perfect but you can get it real close. Also ensure the blue dots are about 1/4" away from each corner (and round not strecthed) and you go though the BIP test.

Hi Deadly,
I have over a dozen or so of the magnetic strips, since they work primarily on the corners I'm still not able to get 9 o'clock position in line on left of screen. As you know
the strips affect other areas as well so I can only do so much correcting. I've attached a screen shot of what I am working with now maybe you can offer advice, I know Vectors will never be 100% but what I am working with isn't real close. I have the 4 blue dots about 1 inch from corners, was told to do so by a KLOV'r who rebuilt the deflection board and I have the BIP test set correctly. I will check the blue dots shape and re-adjust them if necessary and move them to 1/4 inch from corners. What affects the shape of the dots? The diamond pattern adjustments? BTW the screen shot is the best I could get.
Appreciate the help

when you put a strip down behind the yoke, move the strip from side to side... almost like you are rotating it a bit on the spot is how I can best describe it.. I find sometimes if you don't just put then straight in you sometimes get some better results.
