im trying to salvage a deflection board i bought from a member and got totally screwed on. two questions . one of the 1n914 diodes was replaced with a common 4001 type. not really sure of the number, i have to pull it to see it. also, one of the U57 transistors is missing the ferrite ring, i believe they both should have one? would a missing one cause the spot killer to be on, and a near full vertical collapse? see pic.

also, what is the etiquette on calling the seller out on this crappy board. it was sold as gone over, what need to be replaced done, and tested. it intermediately blew one of the 3 amp fast fues, and it looked like a a blind person worked on it with a torch. it didnt just have cold joints, some were un soldered. also, lots of lifted traces. i contacted the seller, and he said he didnt do the work, he has a guy who is "excellent". he said he would take it back, but dont touch it. i had already repaired some of the bad joints, so he wouldn't take it back. i have lots of pics, its horrendous. ps- it was 300 bucks.

thanks

Not sure if the 400x would cause issues vs the 914. My instinct would be no, but it depends on the application, so maybe.

The missing ferrite wouldn't cause your issues.

Call out the seller. That's unacceptable.

This sucks. The seller sounds like he has pretty poor QC. That said, if you intend to return something you shouldn't ever try and repair it without the sellers approval.
