Amplifone 19" & 25" Interest List

I would love a 25"er (plug and play) to do a ZVG cab, but I don't think I'd want to pay more than 500 to get one.

I would be interested in:

1 19" Amplifone monitor (tube, deflection yoke, HV board, deflection board, etc) - ready to plug and play.

1 25" Amplifone monitor (tube, deflection yoke, HV board, deflection board, etc) - ready to plug and play.

Depending on price and availability, of course!

ArcadeMaze!

I'll take 50 25" complete and 25 19" complete @ $1.00 a piece. You pay shipping, and you fly here to show me each and every piece works perfectly. Does that sound fair? :p

Got any pics to share yet?

Also, me thinks you should have a price range. After all it's just monopoly money until cash is physically exchanged. People saying they want is one thing .... being able to afford is another. Just my .02

I'd definitely be in for a 19" Complete Setup...and possibly a 25" depending on price.

As I mentioned in an email, I'd also be interested to know what independent safety testing has been done. There are stories, heresay only of course, about some manufacturers in the far East being compliant with safety standards only to the extent of placing the correct 'tested' sticker on the product. Cost cutting by skimping on glass thickness, lead content, etc. could compromise safety without it being immediately obvious.

Good question.

90 vs 100 degree tubes

The question was raised recently as to whether a 90 degree or 100 degree tube would be used for the 25" monitor.

The 19" amp was a 90 degree tube while the 25" amp and 19" wg6100 were both 100 degree angle tubes.

Is this 25" a 90 or 100 degree tube?

I would also question if a 19" 90 degree tube will fit in the tempest cabinet. I thought I read somewhere that part of the reason the wg6100 was 100 degree was to fit in the Tempest cabinet correctly.

Has anyone tried to put a 19" amplifone tube in a Tempest cabinet?

First off when I was talking to David I asked him about keeping the name Amplifone or if he was going to have his own model number.
I don;t think he'd mind if I posted this:
"I decided to keep the name/model numbers since they should be 100% compatible with OEM equipment." <-- he did go on to say he has tested his samples on OEM hardware and it worked perfectly.
David also spoke of his ordering and he referenced both K6100 and Amp stuff. So in essence you will indeed have 90 degree and 100 degree tubes faithfully reproduced.

I believe using an Amplifone in a Tempest wasn't doable because the Amp tube was too long. Unless you want to run it with the back cover off ;)
who knows - I've seen Space duels with Amps .... crazy.

The amplifone tube fits in the Tempest and you can put the door on but it's so close, that if the door got hit just right and flexed in it could do some damage. The real issue is the pin cushion circuit on the motherboard that you have to disable so the picture will look right.

There's a price list on the RAM Controls website - look under "Star Wars cockpit cabinet and parts". Whether it's still correct is another thing... Dave??

The Site only seems to list a price for Tube and Yoke.

Hoping on a price for the Plug n Play version :)

Yes the hate is a bit over the top, but there's an active thread in the FS section right now where multiple people have posted in the last week regarding waiting for parts they paid for MONTHS ago. Dave hasn't even bothered to reply to them :(.

@Dave -- You're an asset to the community and your products are the da shizzznit, so why not catch up and resolve your shipping issues once and for all?
