finally got my AVG board working 100%!! first game damm monitor crapped out :( the VR1 on the HV board blew apart! a chunk missing!! ( i just recently did the full deluxe from Ian ) put the old one back in and its dead. i have no neck glow, i had a new HVT and put that in and nothing. spot killer is off and pins 9 & 10 of the tube heater have continuity.
i cant find any kind of manual to explain the test points for + 24, -24 ect. really use some guidance here
Chris.

something of substance has to be bad in order for that regulator to blow apart like that.

Look at:

Q3 - Needs to be a BU406D (if its missing the D its the wrong part).
CR5 - 1 amp diode

You already swapped out the high voltage transformer and the VR so something else must have blown open. There really isnt any test points for +/- 24, you just need to probe the pins on the VR's. Pin 1 is in and 3 is out on the positive part and 2 is in and 3 is out on the negative part. Both parts should be getting +/-30VDC from the deflection board on pins 8 and 7 of the high voltage harness connector.

thanks for the reply , i was looking over "Michael Kelley's" amplifone guide and thought the same thing about the BU406D as it it the "switch" that turn on the HV. the guide also shows the test points after you remove the BU406D as you dont have to worry about the hvt BUT in the guide it says it says it is in location Q2 , so anyone using that guide be careful as it is location Q3.
