Hello

I have a Ami Rowe Model Laserstar CD100-A Jukebox and it was working fine untill added some new cd's now it wont register any coins.

All the setting look right any suggestions?

Coin switches unplugged by chance?

Coin switches dirty/mis-adjusted?

Dollar bill acceptor jammed or billbox door left open? If so, that will override the coin switches.

i have checked the plugs there fine.

The switchhes could be dirty i will try cleaning them

A common problem to Rowe jukeboxes going all the way back to the model R-85 jukebox and going all the way through the CD-100-C is the coin switch contacts getting tarnished caused poor connection/no connection. The problem is that Rowe had the contacts made of silver when they really needed to be gold plated.

I clean them with a pencil eraser then swab them with a q-tip moistened with 99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Also the solder joints go bad at the male header pins of the little circuit board the coin switches mount to and require resoldering.

will will try that.

So i do take out the coin mech to clean those points

Carefully swing out the entire coin mechanism assembly from the sidewall of the jukebox. Unplug the connector from the coin switches (with the jukebox power off naturally). Now you can lift the entire coin mechanism assembly & bracket out of the jukebox to work on it on the bench. Yes, I remove the coin mech from the bracket first so it's not in my way. Then I remove the two screws attaching the complete coin switch assembly to the bracket. Now i disassemble the switch assembly and clean the contacts on each blade seperately.

Contact cleaning CAUTION

Be careful if using contact cleaner on contacts not to spray it on the clear plastic coin paddles. I tried this and the cleaner started to melt the plastic coin paddles together! Used dental floss to clean out the melted gunk between each paddle and a bit of LPS lubricant to free them up. Took a bit but I got 'em all working again. On mine I really only needed the last one working to accept quarters though.

The coin paddle assembly can be cleaned with a spray of Mean Green, scrub with toothbrush, then rinse with warm water. I dry the assembly right away with a hair dryer. Then you can reinstall the assembly in the machine.

CD 100 cabinet

Sorry to intrude on this link, but you guys seem very knowledgeable about the CD 100. I need to move one up a very tight set of stairs with a 90 degree turn. I had the bright idea of disassembling the unit and reassembling it on the second floor. I have already removed the hood, the mechanism, the amp and the title rack and the thing is still heavy as hell. Has anyone had any experience in disaasembling the cabinet itself? Any input or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Matt

I strongly advise against disassembling the cabinet unless you want to call a cabinet maker to reassemble it.

When we had to move one up stairs, we took out the title rack and cd mechanism/magazine assembly. Then we used an appliance hand truck with a good ratcheting strap around the juke & hand truck. Naturally, we also had three of our beefy equipment moving guys there to do the actual lifting/getting it up the stairs.

These jukes weigh around 350 pounds so be careful.

Ken, thanks very much. If it were a straight set of stairs, I could definitely get it up there with a handtruck and some added muscle. But the problem is the 90 degree turn to another set of stairs. I may have to give up.

What are the Coin SW values?

In the USA, go into the software settings and see if they are set to these factory default values:

501 Coin Sw 1 value: 1
502 Coin Sw 2 value: 2
503 Coin Sw 3 value: 5
504 Coin Sw 4 value: 10
505 Bill Validator 1 value: 20
506 Bill Validator 2 value: 100

Software setting:

53 Multiplier: Displays and sets the coin multiplier value. For the USA, this value is 5 (nickel).
