Has anyone had luck sourcing a replacement blower wheel for this game?

Mine was brittle and cracked while being swapped.

Repair doesn't seem to be an option due to speed and original material.

I've found similar CCW wheels in this size but CW seems to be non-existent.

Maybe it was a custom part?

Any suggestions or leads would be greatly appreciated!

That would be a perfect example to use 3D printing on.
I have a complete dozer bulldozer, but I don't have the blower wheel your looking for.
Just trying to give you some options if someone would be willing to 3D print the part.

For many years I was a Ford technician and I replaced a quite many heater core blower motors that look similar to this. You might have to improvise from something in the automotive field like from a junk yard where you can compare fans or ive seen fans like this in Home HAVAC blower systems. Another place to try would be like from a bulk supply company that deal with industry, electrical and construction parts like that company called Graingers. That's the best I have to offer.

Thank you to all for your suggestions!

I've been through the Johnstone/Fastco stuff, anything that's close in the HVAC field runs the opposite direction.

I've been through Grainger McMaster stuff too with the same results.

I haven't looked specifically into the auto related possibility (which I'll do). However I've done lots of searching using just the overall specs. I can get close but there's always one of the four specs that doesn't match up.

My biggest problem seems to be the direction. I've found at least one which was an exact match except for the exception rotation. The tolerances in the housing are tight as well so no room for depth or width changes either.

As for 3D printing where does one start?

How is a replacement derived? Can it somehow be scanned or does it have to be redrawn in 3D?

Having no experience with 3D printed items, my main concern would be durability as this spins at 5000 rpm (a failure would destroy the game). I didn't know I'd cracked mine and for the split second it ran and I knew something was wrong, it scored the housing plastic. If I hadn't been ready to shut it off it would have likely destroyed the housing.

Again, thank you all for the input and I'm open to further ideas and any information regarding 3D printing and how to pursue a cost effective solution with it.

This is going to sound dumb, but I just gutted a dozer not long ago. The long and short is that i may have the part you need. But I dont remember seeing it. Is it located onthe backboard? I still have a complete back door and a complete backboard as well (or from what I think is complete)

Hello,

The blower wheel is attached to a Dayton motor and located as shown in the attached photos. The motors were originally black (the one pictured is a recent purchase).

Thanks in advance for checking!

In general, when looking for blower wheels, you go by diameter, height, and direction of rotation. Many blower wheels can be found in metal and nylon versions.

Thank you both Ken and Jimmy for your suggestions!

I'm always open to input on new avenues for searching!

I believe I've exhausted any Interwebs searchable sources for this thing using dimensions.

I've come very close, but the main sticking point is rotation with anything close to this size (plus it's a pretty tight fit to begin with).

Part of my real life job is HVAC and refrigeration. As such I have gone so far as to dig up old Fastco literature (cooler/blower parts) and similar trying to match it but with no luck either.

If it weren't for a patent number embossed on the wheel I might even believe it was a custom part for Americoin.

Again, thank you and I'm open to additional suggestions!

Lets take a step back for a sec.. Maybe we're overlooking something.. Were the original motors for this game made by Dayton for sure ? Or is this what you replaced it with ? I found the motor specifically made for this game here but I cannot see the manufacturer name on it.
https://www.flippers.com/catalog/product_info.php/motor-dozer-5000-115v-60hz-p-242

If we know what brand should be on this game then maybe we can proceed from there to find the correct fan or pin down who originally made it unless it is Dayton after all.

You know, I just had a thought... I don't think this fan will be from any HVAC or Automotive blower... I think that fan you have is something out of a Vacuum cleaner. I would start looking into Vacuum cleaner stores for a match. Vacuum cleaner motors spin at those high RPM's and it seem logical to me that you might find what your looking for in that line of machinery. Or maybe even from a Dryer appliance.

SG6970, I think you're on to something with the thought of this as a vacuum (which is exactly what the system is in this machine)!

The Dayton motor was original, and their current offering (one I purchased) is for all intents and purposes the exact same item .

The blower wheel was made by Plasturbo, model # 2969-1468L .

I have looked around for this company in past but without any luck.

Again, I think the vacuum idea could explain the opposite rotation compared to all others.

It's a good new perspective to work from!

Thanks again for the input from everyone so far!!!

Dave

Do you know what the shaft hole size is ?

The motor has a 1/4" flatted shaft.
