Hey all, I have an Americana III - gorgeous and works fine (even the amp) EXCEPT when a record is done playing it keeps turning and doesn't engage the selector. (As if it thinks its still playing). I imagine this is an adjustment somewhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I dont know about Americana but on a seeburg Firestar there is a switch by the arm with mercury in it and when the magnet passes by it it trips it and ejects the record. One time my magnet fell off because the glue was old and dried out,I just glued it back on with some gorrillla glue/super glue and it has been working ever since. Not sure if this is your problem but it might help.....Dave

Not sure

Thanks for the replay Dave but I don't see a switch with mercury or a magnet. The Wurlitzer mech may not be the same as the seeburg. Anybody else able to weigh in?

hi,
i think the americana 3 uses a 'wurlymatic' mech? if so there is a heavy duty microswith to the left of the tonearm pivot. check this is working and if it is correctly adjusted. if you push the pin while a record is playing it should trip the tonearm. if this works then you will need to adjust it via the screws which hold the switch in place (and/or bend the switch pin if it is not straight).

wurlymatic

yep it looks like a wurlymatic. It works but looks like it needs to be adjusted. Thanks.
