Not sure if anybody else watches this show on cable or not but I have seen a few episodes where you see older games and pinball machines in the background. Really good show if you like to learn about old stuff. They pay way too much for a lot of the stuff though and how they come up with the values to look like they always come out ahead is a mystery to me.

I like that show just to see the stuff they will find. It is probably staged and partially fake in the end but that chick Danielle is hot, so that makes up for it.

The problem is It's a show (design to entertain) . I am sure there are many shop owners who are more than willing to bend quiet a bit to get their name out there and get national exposure. Sure that roached out kangaroo Arcade machine is worth 1000 dollars. How much advertisement can you get for 1000? Nation wide exposure and the shows repeats and you can buy the show on DVD. Cheap advertisement.

she's cute if that.

Honestly peoples idea of "hot" has gone out the f'n window in this society. Calves as big as Ham, a giant rear end and small tata's seem to be getting mistaken for "Hot" a lot lately.

"One mans junk is another mans treasure" or "one mans junk is one mans junk"

I do like the show tho. and i can't say with a few drinks in me i wouldn't take advantage of Danielle

+1..... But then please remember that everyone's standard is different.

Jeesh!!! I am catching some heat for saying that thick burlesque chick is hot. I can however, appreciate the McEnroe image. Broodwich, you would hit it. :)

I love the show. I thought it was funny when they were talking about relays on an EM pinball costing a hundred bucks each though.
Retail is a whole different ballgame than what we pay. They don't try to sell to the craigslist crowd, they have built up clients over the years who know they're not cheap, but appreciate the things that they do find. I also suspect its the things they buy that don't make it on tv that keep them in business.
As far as Danielle goes, i think she's cool. Would be lots of fun to hang out with, but the tats just ruin it for me.
Anyway, according to someone here, next week's show is supposed to have them hit a collector's warehouse, or something....

Kind of spooky

Lost all respect for them a couple of weeks back when they ran across a guy who had some games in a building/garage and among them was a frickin' Haunted House pinball, and what do they pick out to buy? A Roy Clark cocktail pinball!!!! I am HOPING the guy said the other games were off limits! All kidding aside, the show is primarily for entertainment, and at least their prices aren't as off the mark as Pawn Stars...

Ever seen auction hunters? Dudes got a trailer from a shipping yard and found a Ms. Pacman. They take it to an arcade guy and he was like I'll give you $75. So they fix it up basically by sanding the sides and adding the vinyl repo sideart then put it on craigslist for either $1200 or $1000. Some dude shows up and actually says "oh it's vinyl, I was looking for the actual stenciled artwork" and he still paid like $1000 for it!

If you know that the artwork is stenciled on originals, then you should know that a repo and ms pacman itself is not worth $1000.

People are dumb and like to prove it on tv

A lot of those shows are just a joke. And you can tell that they don't do any research before filming a show. Recently there was an episode of Auction Hunters where they find a storage unit full of junk... but inside is very clearly a PDP-11/34 with RK05 drives. Two racks full of equipment. Also lots and lots of disk packs. In the background you can see some piece of unit record equipment, and a Hazeltine terminal. They completely ignore it though. The real gem of the whole unit, and they don't even mention it. The "good" item they find is some crappy old camera.

Sure, I guess they don't know anything about computers, but you'd think they would have taken 30 seconds to look it up on the internet.

Or, maybe they just can't figure out a way to explain a rare piece of computer equipment to the general public, and figure that they'd better understand something like a camera.

Who knows.

Hell, that wasn't even a real Ms. Pac-Man cabinet.....it was a Pac-Man cabinet.
