Is any one going to this?
If so is there a good selection of pins?
I have tried to look up previous auctions from american amusement to see what stuff sold for and cant seem to come up with anything.
I want to go, but would also like to see some kind of list of what will be there instead of wasting fuel, time, and money, and then go home empty handed!

The Mesquite auctions are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. I've been to some in the past with great pinball selections, and plenty with mediocre. The pin prices are generally on the high side for any decent pins these days....not to mention when fees are as high as they are!

Since it is a consignment auction, there is no advance notice of what will show up.

Ha ha, okay forest gump. Lol.
Anyway so with it being consignment does that mean that the owner of the machine can bid to push the price up? If so that is ridiculous!
The whole point of an auction is that the owner is taking a gamble, and someone may end up with a good deal.

Not only does it mean the owner can bid to push the price up, you can GUARANTEE they will!!

I've found out more often than not on the bids I've won I was bidding against the owner.

In one case, they stopped the auction on a machine after I had the high bid and were about to hit the hammer to go outside and find the owner to make sure he didn't want to bid it up higher, which he of course did!

Personally to me that's B.S.!
I don't like that idea at all. That really discourages me about this auction.
How did you know you were bidding against the owners? Besides that one obvious case of course. Lol.

Also will you be there the sat?

Sorry guys but all auction houses do it. Michealangelo, auction game sales. Many only have a ten dollar buy back fee. It keeps the games coming though. If a huge operator Like king pin or green coin bring a semi truck load and lose there ass every time they will only make the trip once or twice. I attend several auctions a year knowing this but there is still great deals to be found.

I won't be there. I don't go all that often as I often find better deals on CL. I've talked to a few of the other bidders afterwards and found out. I've also learned who some of the regular big sellers are there and they pretty much only bid on their own stuff.

Well seeing as this will be my first auction ever, i really appreciate the heads up going into this. I hoping to get a few good deals on some pins for my ever expanding game room. :D

I will try to get some pics of what was there if your interested...

Pics and prices on stuff is always appreciated here, especially on pinballs.

There are some regulars on here that frequently attend since they live in Dallas, like Channelmanic. I'd suggest trying to connect with a regular there as they know who the sellers are and can alert you when you're being shill bid.

There is one guy in particular to watch out for. He's kind of short, with a round face. Wears glasses and always has cheap looking brown polyester slacks and a button down shirt. He's one of the big sellers. It's very hard to tell where the auctioneers leave off and he begins because they are so tight. He signals them where to start the bidding at and on his games they will spend much longer trying to talk the machines/price up than they will on the small sellers where you'll see the hammer come very quickly. He also tends to stand behind the crowd and on top of a stool behind the next row of games so the auctioneer can see him but the buyers won't notice his signaling as much.

These auctions really can be a spectator sport.

I am going to the auction...

I plan on going to the auction. Should be interesting. Not exactly sure what I am looking for yet, but a day surrounded by arcade games can't be an exactly bad thing ;)

Just wondering on when you pickup machines. Anyone there to help load them?

I will be at the show by my lonesome. Kind of wrried about loading the couple of games I might buy seeing that my knee is foobared right now.

Ahh...mental note... don't forget the straps for the damn trailer again! ;)

There are a few guys with the auction that will help you load. It is generally very common courtesy to slip them some cash for their help!

Often during load out if you ask for help from others, there will be plenty to give you a quick hand. I've helped plenty of people load games myself there.

If you need help, just make sure you talk to some of the people that will be there during the day. Also it helps to post what you will be wearing so other KLOVers know you.

Most of us will help each other out loading up.

That being said, I won't be there this time. Too many other things going on this weekend.

ken

PS: I would still like pics and prices, so I can kick myself for not being there...;)

ill be there.
i would not mind helping someone load some games. ill have a friend of mine with me so if you need help let me know.

pm me if you wanna try to meet up at the auction.

this will be an interesting experience...lol

I missed the last 2 so I'm making this one for sure. I'll be sure to take some pics and post them.

Need more games

It was half full ,If you have games you want to sell it may be worth while to bring some that you cant move on cragslist, just be realistic when you shill bid it other wise you will take it back home. One of the ops truck is not going to make it transmission problems it will be at least 75 games short.
