I just stumbled across the repair logs at AnaTek's website. (We all know them for their multitude of reasonably priced testing tools, ESR meters, etc.)
Well, little did I know, they have some amazing technical information on their site as well. Found it via a Google search looking for some parts substitutes.
First, go to http://www.anatekcorp.com . You will see a menu bar at the top. The sections of-interest are "Technical FAQ" which contains Monitor, Video Game, and Television repair info (some of it amazing in depth). Also check out the "Technical Resources" section, especially Tips and Tricks and Articles on Repair.
Great stuff here, I've got my reading assignments for the weekend. LOL
