Amazing Commodor Vic20

Under $300!! It was a good machine til they released the C64, which blew everything away game-wise, for years.

We had a C64, but my school had Apple 2e with monochrome monitors. At home I could play Skate or Die and at school Oregon Trail - quite the contrast.

I had a TRS-80 coco and an old 19" color tv with a bad case of fold-over on the top 3 inches. If only I knew about replacing capacitors back then.

I had both a Vic 20 and a C-64. The Vic 20 didn't have much for games compared to the C-64, but that Omega Race was a pretty good translation, as was Vic Avenger, a Space Invaders game. It actually looked just like Space Invaders, and even had the 23/15 shot trick to get 300 point saucers, just like the arcade. I also had one called Cosmic Cruncher, which was a Pac-Man like game, with the Commodore "C" as the player, and a bunch of different mazes.

The Vic-20 was the first computer I ever bought. Saved up my money from a Paper route to buy it. Was $299 (Under $300!). Lot of money for a kid back then.

Never had a Vic-20.. I have had my C=64 since 1983, and still use and play games with it all the time...

I love love LOVED my Vic-20.

I now own a C64, but the Vic-20 was the first computer I ever wrote a program for*

Good times.

*copied code verbatim from a code book.

My progression was TRS-80 -> Vic-20 -> C64 -> C128 -> Atari ST -> PC.

You peaked at the C64 .... ;-)

Greatest machine ever, ...at the time...

Too bad Commodore screwed royally and went bankrupt.
... that brand has so much potential...

...ahhh, the good ole days !

Well, I still have a Vic-20 (Not the original one I had), I do have the original C64 from when I as a kid (Plus a couple hundred floppies)! And I have an Atari ST again (regret selling it, but at the time I needed the money).

I've been looking for a reliable way of getting the C64 disks onto my PC. I was able to save some of my original source code from back in the day, but I don't know where my cable is anymore. Need something that works with Copy Protected discs.

Vic 20

I loved Gorf and Omega Race, played those as a kid and is the main reason I bought a Gorf cab.

Did anyone ever play The Count for Vic-20? if so I would like to hear about it. I used to try to play it as kid but could never figure it out. Its hard to find any info on the actual "gameplay"

still have our Vic-20, tape reader, some games, and the orgional box....

Even have a sears pong, in its box

I have two c64s a 1706 monitor, printer, modern and floppy drive. I need to do an alignment on it.

When I was in school my first computer was the PET, which no one is mentioning!

Also the apple ][ had some great games, its version of ms pac was really good, so was choplifter, mario bros, and I loved Montezuma's Revenge!

I have 2 1541's that I picked up at thrift stores. Neither will read a disc, and I haven't tried to align. I'm sure if you've done it, it's easy, but how hard is it to figure out?

Vic-20 Glory

Ahh first computer I had also and bought it myself. I still look for the day when someone ports those awesome text adventure carts ala Mission Impossible and Pirates Cove to a more available platform. Never seen a better text adventure myself. Thought the vocabulary was selective. never seen all of them either... Believe there was supposed to be ten, not sure if all made production tho. Good times!

i never had a vic20, but i had a c64 i miss the game Spooks! it was so much fun.

That's a Scott Adams classic!

I picked up a Vic-20 at a garage sale. It came with an Adventureland cart. Awesome stuff. Other games in the series that I remember were Pirate Adventure, Savage Island, and Voodoo Castle. There were 12 of them total. I think.

Oh yeah....in The Count you had to do things at certain times, or in a certain order. The details are fuzzy now.
