Alternative to cam locks anyone?

I would rather not have keys for my cam locks - I just need something to take the place of the key mechanism in a cam lock so I can still turn it to latch coon doors and backs shut. Is there such a thing?

In other words, imagine a cam lock with a little knob kind of like a deadbolt lever instead of key tumblers. Any such thing?

Without being too much of a smartass, there's always "leaving the key in the lock", which is what I do.

Not taken as such, but my 6 year old and I spent 20 minutes looking for her considerably larger soccer cleats yesterday. And I actually want these because I'm building her a shortish MAME rig and leaving the key in the lock is 100% guaranteed to cause me anguish. Even with my regular cabinets I can't leave the keys in the coin door for the same reason. I can leave them in the back panel lock, but that's against the wall.
Trust me, I wish I could leave the keys in the lock.

for most of the games i sold bitd, id just bend the coindoor metal out slightly do it dragged as i shut the door. Stick your finger in the empty lockhole and pull to reopen

You can also take old locks apart, and take all the tumblers out of them and put them back together. Now you can turn it with a flat blade screwdriver.

Which is probably better than having the intentional keyless type, if you're aiming to keep small children outta the coin door.

DOH! I was about to get some of those locks but this is an elegant solution. Good way to use locks without keys pulled from old games. Good thing I picked 'em instead of drilling 'em. Thanks!

I have those turn locks in one of my pinball machines. Works well (so i dont have to find the keys - i have kids and wont leave them in the door since I think they will either break the key off or take them out and lose it).

I think i will order enough for all of my machines.....

Kids...

A couple of kids were in my gameroom about a year ago and after they left I tried opening coin door... (I leave the keys in the cabs)... nope.

Luckily I have flyers keychains on all of them. A dozen or so of my keys were switched with each other. Hehe...

:)

Yeah.. it helps to have the doors all keyed alike.. All my cabs are keyed alike.. and I keep the keys in them. But if you wanted to keep the kids out, you at least only need to take one key around with you to open them up... Seems preferable to me to removing tumblers/using a screwdriver. Not 100% sure what your goal is here.

Wouldn't have mattered with my machines. I am almost complete in moving everything to keyed alike locks.
