Im all for the restoration of games but at same time to i find some game cabinets colors to be really boring/bad.

Landed another popeye today and am going to give it a full restore. Instead of doing the DK blue since i already have a DK, i was thinking of maybe color matching the green in the spinach and painting it that color. What do you think?

I love it. For the most part, I like seeing customized cabinets. It mixes it up a bit, and it's only paint and maybe some t-molding that can always be reversed!

If I had room, I'd have all my nintendo cab a different color/shade. Make a dedicated Vs. cabinets for Ice Climbers, Balloon Fight, Hogans alley, Dr. Mario, etc, etc.. aah a man can dream.

Agreed. Joust really ought to be black instead of brown.

Since it's popeye, I'd say go with spinach green!

Spinach green... I may like that one.. someone ought to make some pictures.

As for Joust I personally like it the way it is. :004_scool:

You'll get tons of support now, but if you actually do it, you might want to don a flame suit. There's enough purists around here that will give you crap for changing a color even to something that makes sense, like spinach green for Popeye.

I have a Punch-Out!! that has been painted white and red. I'm not sure if I want to go back to the original, boring black with it.

Feeling

The game loses that nostalgic feeling if it were any other color than blue. I am sure it would look good though. But for me I would only do blue.

Well i may just do read since olive oil has red in it, the lettering is red and a red cabinet will definately shine in basement. Spinach green will be lost in a dark arcade room.

Hell even black is an option. Will update once i start it next week!

What do you think of this T&F cocktail painted to match the UR version rather than woodgrain?

Same here. I think it would be cool to have multi color Nintendo cabs but I could never bring myself to do it. I guess I'm a purist.

I might consider a different color t-molding but that's about as far as I would go.

I think if you are going to do a different color it should be the Dark navy in the side art, or the green in the circles in the side art. Really I think that popeye looks great in its original light blue. Especially if you have a Red DK.

Other options would be the orange in the Nintendo logo in the side art (contrasting color to the blue in the bezel/marquee/control panel) but then it would just look like a DK Jr converted to a Popeye. I wonder how white would look.

I adjusted the color on a popeye cab in a few colors:

True, and generally speaking I'm one of them, particularly the more rare titles ans especially the cabs that had painted artwork. That being said, I LOVED the black centipede that was done. (I forget who did it)
There are a bazillion blue 'tendo cabs. Curious to see one in "Spinach Green". ;)
