Altered Beast your thoughts

It's a cool game but does not have a lot of replay value since the game has an end. I own one and will play through it every so often. Kids seem to like it. It's two player so you and a friend or your kid can play together which is a plus.

I got one for $50 playing blind, and subbed in a chassis. Cleaned it up nice, played until level 4 or so, then ordered a 48/1 board for the cabinet.

I loved that game as a kid. I was shocked to see how poorly the gameplay held up.

I really liked it as a kid. If I saw one for $100 obo around here, it snap it up in a second. Do a search on youtube for 'altered beast' and you'll find a few vids of the gameplay.

Im like others here. Liked it as a kid, but would never own one.

If you have a garage arcade and it doesn't involve any steps/steep inclines/tight corners then I would put in a low bucks offer. If there's ANY backbreaking work or inconvenience I would just be a lazy infielder and let this one go by.

How easy would it be to swap in other Sega System 16 boards? I am assuming easy enough but might need more buttons. I have not messed with the SS16 setup. If it was good for that and one like other SS16 games then it would also be worth picking up.

And Altered Beast was great as the game that shipped with the original Genesis. Lots of play on that one. :)

Yeah I spotted that one too. I almost called but I needed it like I need another hole in my head. If it's in good shape I'd snag it.

I think it's a fun game. At $100 obo, you'll get it for a good price... but I'd only pick it up if you've got the room for it, since it it lacks in longevity.

If it's a working game in good shape I'd go for it. You can always use the cab for another game or convert it to Jamma. It's an ok game if you have never played it.
