So games almost never come up for sale less than 2 hours away from me. Today I was checking craigslist and not only did one come up only 10 miles away, but it was also one I've wanted for a while, Ms. Pac-Man. That's the good.

The bad, is they want $600 for it and I'd say it's worth at most $100.

"Sound works great, needs new or repairs done to video board. Turns on when plugged in." I'd say that means it plays blind?

Ah well, I'm more in the mood for a pin anyway. Just shocked this one popped up in my neck of the woods.

tell them how it is, screw it, what do you have to lose?

-the art is all faded. The cabinet will need repainted/stenciled or new vinyl art out on.

-wrong control panel overlay. joystick probhably needs rebuilt/replaced.

-wrong bezel(missing art)

-monitor not working( new monitor were about 250 but now not available)

Just tell em how it is. Real life is not like auction hunters, nathan bannatt isnt going to bust through the door and pay full retail for it.

Be as nice about it as you can, explain to them you collect and restore these machines, and just tell them in that condition its worth about $100-200, offer $150. if they say no thats fine, but dont lost thier contact info. check back every couple weeks. After some time, they might just bend.

Yeah, it just went up today. Once they go sometime without selling the thing might be a good time to strike.

Not to sound like a broken record, but shoot them offer, tell them cash in hand and you are a collector.

I've knocked down a CL'er from 600 to 200 because of that.

I agree. At this point, you've made a reasonable offer. Make sure they know the cash is in-hand, and see how they respond.

The worst they can do is say no.

I've made offers saying I was a collector and they've all been pretty receptive to them. Some people may think you're low-balling, but worth a shot. I wouldn't offer more than $100 my first offer given the work that will take to do. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it though. You'll end up paying at least $400 to restore it, IF the monitor is ok.

I could have swore we talked about not taking a giant dump on someone's stuff if you want to crack a deal. I'd work out what my absolute top dollar would be then adjust the initial offer. If you want it for only 150 bucks...I probably wouldn't bother until I've seen it sitting for a while.
