Allentown show

The show was great, it was almost like it hadn't changed hands. Format was maintained exactly how it had been and saturday was very well attended. There was a severe dropoff in the number of games there on sunday, which sucked, but was still fun because there were more open games to play. Met a lot of old and new faces and overall had a great time!

The one complaint I had, which is in no way the organizers fault were the asking prices on almost every game were WAY too high. $11000 for an AFM? Give me a break (I mean it WAS perfect, but I didn't think AFM had even crossed the 5K threshold). $1900 Mousin' Around? C'mon! Lots of games also didn't have stickers on them to indicate whether they were for sale or not.

All of the good deals were gone by the time I got there on saturday, like the $850 Rollergames. There was a Namco Assault outside that had sold before I could grab it. There was a nice $600 Millionaire which was a great deal on Sunday, but I didn't pull the trigger.

But by far the deal of the show was the $15 Hyperball backglass I bought! Had one scratch on it and will be getting a nice spiffy frame for the wall! I also picked up a Super Hang On I had bought before the show, and a couple of other little things from the flea market.

Congrats to Ivan for a job well done! Definitely will be back next year!

It was a good show. A nice mix of old and new games. A lot of titles that I hadn't seen in years or ever before showed up. Sometimes in multiples like Medusa and Gottlieb Strikes and Spares. A few rare titles like Cosmic Gunfight were also there. Personally I like playing the oddball games that I hadn't seen or played before. The Roller Disco with the LED mods was very cool. At least as cool as a Roller Disco can be. The Safecracker was also great to see. It sold on Saturday.

As to the 11K AFM, it was completely redone. Custom artwork, restored playfieild, all kinds of mods, chromed parts and so on. Someone spent a lot of time on that game. If you price the High end restored pin prices, it really isn't out of the question price wise.

I think that some of the high prices are the "I really don't want to sell it but if I would get this much for it, I would factor". It did seem like a lot of the more expensive games (2K and up) selling more than the under 1K games.

The Flea market was also good, I thought it was slightly smaller than years past but still decent. Lots of cool stuff out there too. Like the Smokey the bear vending machine thing.

I picked up a shuffle bowler.

The only complaint I had was that the loading area was a disaster, A couple of people parked, blocked the area and promptly disappeared.

I ended up moving the bowler down the lot to the end of the building to load it up.

The Hollistic Healing festival next door provided some interesting characters wondering around. And that's saying something at a pinball show.

You're welcome :)

I almost bought that. Had it been nicer than the one I have in my machine now, you would not have had the chance, LOL.

<insert evil laugh here>

Sorry I missed you BB, maybe next year! The Assault was sold before it got there I think. That belonged to KLOV member VicShaf. I got some stuff from him as well at the show.

It was a great show, and I am glad that Ivan took over for Brian. Brian was there, and it was great to talk to him for a while. We talked about why he did not run the show any more, and it really made sense to me now. Glad someone was willing to take over though, I really would have missed this show.

PICTURES!!!!
For those of us that couldn't go. ;)

These were posted on RGP, and are NOT my photos (I forgot my camera - D'oh!). Not sure what day these were taken, but I think it was Saturday morning.

It was a blast! I bplayed very little pinball but talked to many new faces, heard great comments about PinWiki, picked up a Hyperball glass too, but no where near as good as the other one in this thread. The best deal wasn't even a pinball, I got a Silent Scope 2 for $225! Also found out how to buy more stuff than fits in my trailer... all in all a good show.

Woah! you bought that SS2. I was thinking about it and it was huge. Couldn't fit it in my van or my place. It was a solid machine. Great score for that price.

This was my first pinball show. I can't believe how packed this place got. So many pins to place. Some of them were so nice that I can't believe people bring these in to play. I really got hooked on Royal Rumble with Macho man going " oh yeah!!" I was kind of disappointed when pins were getting shut down because they were sold. I can understand it but suddenly, you saw machines going missing. Oh and the farmers market next door was awesome.

Damn and I thought getting a free playfield was a great deal. Times have changed...

<sigh> That is a great deal Hugh!

I saw the SS2 on the floor there, and thought how awesome it would be to have. I immediately (and erroneously) dismissed it as "probably too expensive" and did not persue it. Drat :(

The free playfield was truly the best, but I didn't have to pay to for that (which was a great thing to do!). I had to fight that SS2 into my trailer, I ended up denting the corner of my ID4 pin backbox and I don't have a clue how I got my ID4 and Hs next together.
